I have multiple apps in the Android market with varying degrees of maturity and success. My first app has enjoyed almost 10,000 downloads and has about 1,000 active uses. My newest app was a joy to code and is gaining momentum. Everything in between has been a wonderful learning experience.
The ability to succeed based on my own motivation, the immediate access to millions of customers and the low cost of entry: for my time and desire I can write code that is fun and/or useful to a very large audience and I get to meet a lot of people along the way. Aside from that: learning. Android being completely open makes it a great tool for developing my programming skills.
Associate Director for Android Development @ Rockfish Interactive (http://rockfishinteractive.com) and President/Owner Android Fu, LLC. Also a body double for Pawn Stars' Rick Harrison.
I'm a lifelong batteries, network cords and power cables guy turned mobile developer (and super hero). I've written 10's of thousands of lines of code trying to automate 1 task or another, but I'd rather be writing something fun or useful :)
At just over a year old as of July 2012 I think this group has really found its stride. We're offering a nice blend of presentations, social gatherings and hands-on participatory meetups. There's a stable of regulars complemented every week by fresh members contributing their views, ideas and unique talents to the group.
