Welcome our monthly CINE Film Group meetup! Last time, we talked about workshops and things we want to learn. Well, Spring Film Group has invited us to join them as they learn "Directing the Short Film" from Chris Spisak. This is FREE education from an expert!
We’ll cover topics ranging from what directors should know before stepping on set, to the physical nuts & bolts of the production itself, to the director’s role once principal photography is complete. The session will be equally focused on both the “how” and, perhaps more importantly, the “why” things are done the way they are!
A graduate of the Honors College at The University of Houston, Chris Spisak has been writing and directing films since 2003. His short films have screened in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and all throughout Texas. His latest short, The Order of Things, was one of only seven films to be selected as part of the 2012 Texas Filmmakers Showcase, which premiered at the Director’s Guild of America in Los Angeles in June 2012. He is currently in preproduction on his next short film, Make It Rain, which is slated to begin production this summer.
Also, the 48 Hour Film Project is coming up (Registration info: http://48hourfilm.com/en/houston/). If you are thinking about participating in 48hour Film or if you need crew members for your group, take advantage of this meetup before the competition.
As always, we're here to network, learn, and have fun with filmmaking. We encourage you to meet us monthly.
See you there!
