DESCRIPTION:Drinking with Strangers\n\nDear Strangers\,\n\nYou know why thi
 s is one of my favorite parties\, its because this is one of the longest\, 
 for the past two years we've started this party at around 11AM\, met at the
  MDR Hotel\, walked over to 'El Torito' grabbed a bite to eat and drink (ex
 cellent drinks) then back to the hotel\, with hundreds of great folks party
 ing from about 1-2PM when the streets close down till past 11PM. It gives m
 e time to enjoy multiple conversations from the many gr8 people I have met 
 in DWS and LA over the last 2.5 years. :-)\n\n***This Year We Are Gonna Do 
 It Even Better\, with DJ(s) and a New Hot Band!***\n\nAs always a huge even
 t as we dominate the entire hotel\, with many food and drink options and ho

 st Two Years: 2007\, 120 strangers arrived and partied with us from 11AM to
  about 10PM. 2008 we had over 350 do the same\, with better food layout\, m
 ore bars and better prices! \n\nWell\, we are doing it again\; bigger\, bet
 ter and and this year we are investing in DJ(s)\, a Dancefloor and a differ
 ent better Band outside.\n\n\nThe morning after the 'South' party\, with ou
 r hangovers in full swing\, Randy and I met the administrators in a round t
 able at The Marina Del Rey Hotel. We negotiated for reasonable drink prices
  starting at $4.00\, moving the bars outside\, placing a dancefloor inside 
 and getting a DJ or two as well as changing the band outside by the food bu
 ffet. The Administrators were thrilled to have us back and we all felt pret
 ty good about doing this since it can only get better as we move into out 3

 ngers\, and Dive Bar Adventures hosted an awesome celebration event at the 
 Marina Del Rey Hotel.\n\nMore than 500 members arrived and partied like Roc
 k Stars from 11am to about 10pm (and beyond!!!). \n\nWell\, we are doing it
  again this year\, only bigger and better!!! This years party will consist 
 of members from No Flakes Singles and Drinking with Strangers. We plan to h
 ave over 600 people in attendance. \n\n\nTHIS YEAR ~ WE WANT TO TAKE OVER T
 HE ENTIRE HOTEL!!!\n\n\nWe will be meeting early at the El Torito Mexican r

  across the street is gone by 10am normally.After 4pm they close the street
  down and you are trapped til after the fireworks somewhat due to traffic c
 ongestion.   so sit back and drink til the the mass crowds flee \, use the 
 jacuzzi and pool and wear your union jack! You can bring a friend (yanks ar
 e fine if with sense of humour haha!)   there is bbq on the complex down be
 low so that could be a good thing to also cook if people are interested...t

DESCRIPTION:3F Bike Club\n\nIndependence Day 2009\n\nJoin us for a ride to 
 the beach\, a dip in the pool\, BBQ\, and if you want to stick around\, a f
 ireworks show within walking distance.  Here's the agenda for the day:\n\n1
 PM: Casual road ride to Newport (Balboa Pier) via the bike path (appox 28 m
 iles round trip - 1 to 1.5 hours each way).  We'll be on the bike path unti
 l we reach PCH and then we'll go through the streets of Corona del Mar for 
 a couple miles to get to the ferry.  Ferry crossing fee is $1.25 each way. 
  Balboa usually isn't nearly as jam packed as Newport so it should be a goo
 d time.\n\n6PM: We should be back in Irvine by 6PM and good and ready after
  a long few hot hours of riding to jump in the pool and start the BBQ.  The
 re are bathrooms at the pool for changing into your swimsuit and a shower. 
  My pad is right next to the pool\, so you can enjoy the pool while I cook.
   (Bring something to BBQ - There's a Ralph's within 1/2 block for last-min
 ute BBQ supplies.)\n\nNear sundown: We'll walk or ride down to the lake (ab
 out a 20 minute walk) and setup on the beach (alcohol is allowed) and watch
  the fireworks.  By the way\, I can only bring 5 guests to the fireworks sh
 ow so if you know for sure you want to stick around for that\, please let m
 e know.\n\nPost fireworks: Spa time!\n\nI think it goes without saying that
  there will be a lot of police around on the 4th so don't drink and drive. 
  Get a designated driver\, bus it\, cab it\, bike it\, walk it\, but don't 
 drive!  If you find yourself too buzzed to drive while you're here\, you ca
 n crash out on the living room floor.  I have sleeping bags.\n\nBy the way\

  is no entry cost to this event. Yes\, that's right. It is FREE!\n\nPlease 
 bring some food and/or drinks to share. You can also purchase food from var
 ious youth group food vendors on site. If you don't particularly like sitti
 ng directly on grass\, you may want to bring a blanket and a foldable chair
 . Some of us will be in the mood for a few board games\, so feel free to br
 ing them (I'll bring UNO and Scrabble).\n\nParking should not be as bad as 
 it is at the Rose Bowl or the Hollywood Bowl. Still\, it is recommended to 
 arrive early. From 5:20 until around 6:00\, I will be waiting on the east s

 oes thru canyons\, it will be dark. Pitch dark. Really dark. A reliable lig
 ht system is a MUST. Your downhill safety gears are not necessary\, but it 
 is recommended if you are not comfortable in high speed going down a firero

DESCRIPTION:Los Angeles Film Enthusiasts\n\nWell\, I simply love seeing fil
 ms at the cemetery! Thus far this year\, there have been some great selecti
 ons. This 4th of July is a must see: JAWS!!!!!!!!!. \n\nHere's the lowdown 
 on the cemetery. Tickets are $10 and you pay when they open the gates (CASH
 ). If you get there early\, there is plenty of street parking on Santa Moni
 ca Blvd. If you get there late\, you will park in the cemetery\, and the fe
 e is $5. \n\n***Note\, that if you arrive late\, it will be nearly impossib
 le to find us. Moreover\, many of these films sell out. \n\nFor those of yo
 u who have never been\, yes\, this film screening is in the cemetery. They 
 project the film on the side of a mausoleum. Fear not\, the seating area is
  not amongst the grave stones. Bring your favorite food/drinks and of cours
 e\, a blanket. LOW BACK chairs are permitted (stadium chairs)\, but not reg
 ular lawn chairs. You can purchase one at Target. Think about it people\, h
 ow could anyone see the film if you are sitting in a chair?? The film start
 s at 8:30 pm and the gates open at 7:00 pm. People start lining up at the g
 ate for these films quite early (4:30 pm). The closer you are to the gate\,
  the better locations you get for your blankets\, and the more time you hav
 e to picnic. I will be in line around 5pm\, so look for me near the front. 
 For those of you who don't know me\, I will have a purple balloon with me. 
 Hopefully several of you will join me early in line\, so that we can rush i
 n when the gates open and stake out some good turf. I can't do it alone. If
  you arrive later and need to find out group... look for my balloon\, give 
 me a call at: 773-844-6570\, and finally\, I try to always sit in the cente
 r of the screen just a couple rows back from the front. Finally\, it's goin
 g to get chilly once the sun goes down\, so bring a jacket. \n\n***Everyone

 n. When we reach the top (1.25 hours) we will sit around and watch the Rose
  Bowl fireworks which start at about 9 PM. If you have collapsible lawn cha
 irs that can fit on your back pack\, bring them b/c as you may know\, there
  are no seats up there.\n\nWe will be a goodly distance from the Bowl\, and
  the fireworks look a little tiny from atop Echo\, but it is fun anyway.  E
 specially when we are enjoying the refreshments we take with us.\n\nFor tho
 se who have never hiked to Echo Mtn. this trail is almost constantly uphill
  with little respite.  You cannot get lost\, so if anyone has trouble going
  up\, you can always turn back.  It is a medium level hike\, not a beginner
  hike.\n\nIf you bring flashlights\, use them sparingly if at all. There sh
 ould be plenty of moonlight coming back down.  However\, last year\, many p
 eople used the lights when coming back down the trail.  It was beautiful to
  look back at the string.  Too bad our cameras couldn't handle night photos

DESCRIPTION:Huntington Beach Volleyball Group\n\nTHIS IS FOR INTERMEDIATE P
 LAYERS ONLY!  Come and play with players at your level and have a whole lot
 ta fun! Meet more volleyball players and work on your game! We will limit p
 layers to 12 so everyone gets to play a lot! I will be there at 7:30am. IF 
 ANYONE WOULD LIKE SOME COACHING\, JUST E-MAIL ME\, TOM (the organizer)\, TO
  LET ME KNOW YOU ARE COMING EARLY FOR ONE ON ONE OR GROUP INSTRUCTION! IT'S

 GINNERS: working on fundamentals of the game. Have inconsistent control of 
 the ball\, BUT having a whole lotta fun!!! \nB) INTERMEDIATE (M): have OK f
 undamentals and can control their hits\, serves\, passes and sets more than
  50% of the time.  Better at 3's or 4's than they are at 2's! Need to work 
 on ball control more! \nC) INTERMEDIATE (H):  have GOOD fundamentals and co
 ntrol their hits\, serves (overhand)\, passes and bump sets more than 65% o
 f the time!  MUST BE ABLE TO PLAY TWO'S WITH GOOD BALL CONTROL TO QUALIFY!\
 nD) ADVANCED: have EXCELLENT fundamentals\, can control their hits\, sets\,
  passes and overhand serves 80% of the time or more. Can BLOCK and dig hard
  driven balls\, can hand set with little or no ball rotation. Understands d
 efense! Has a wide variety of control shots.  MUST HAVE A SOLID ALL AROUND

SUMMARY:Sunday Morning Hike
DESCRIPTION:The Runyon Canyon Club\n\nThis hike will be an easy/intermediat
 e hike depending on your fitness level that will start just inside the gate
 d entrance to Runyon Canyon Park at the top of N. Vista St. We will start b
 y getting loosened up and stretched out before heading up the paved route t
 o the first lookout overlooking LA. We will break there and then continue o
 n to the top where we can get a better view of LA and also get a good view 
 of the valley. If you decide that the first lookout is enough then it is yo
 ur option to head back.\n\nBring a good pair of athletic shoes or trail run
 ners that are light and a bottle of water. If the weather is hot\, then bri
 ng 2. Oh yeah\, don't forget the sunscreen if you burn easy. It's a steady 
 climb that lasts about 40 min. non-stop to an hour with breaks to reach the
  first lookout. After that\, it's an easier climb to the top\, top lookout 
 that goes about 15 to 30 minutes. I've heard that the round trip for this h
 ike is about 3.5 mi. and takes on average 2 hrs. to complete.\n\nDirections
 :\n\nFrom the north\, take 101 S and get off on Highland. It will merge qui
 ckly with Cahuenga so be careful. Cruise on down until it starts to bend to
  the right and see a bunch of billboards for movies. Get into the right mos
 t lane to turn right onto Franklin. You'll see a Chevron on the right oppos
 ite corner and a church on your right when you turn. Go straight past Orang
 e\, Sycamore\, then get in the right lane to go past La Brea\, then Fuller\
 , and finally Vista. Find parking anywhere in this area and hike on up to t
 he top of Vista then turn right at the end. You'll see the gated entrance. 
 That's it!\n\nFrom the south\, take 101 N and get off on Highland. Slow way
  down and stick to the right because it will go into a crazy loop that's al
 most a 360 degree turn. Once you get out of it\, get ready to make a left t
 urn onto Highland. This turn will be the first and only signal light after 
 coming out of the loop under the bridge.  If you don't turn left\, then you
 're pretty much going into the Hollywood Bowl. The rest of the way is the s

 yone\,\n\nI'm BACK :) I missed you all while I was away in Asia. Thanks to 
 Wendy who kept the group going strong for the last several weeks. I'm compl
 etely jet-lagged but can't wait to start training with you all again.\n\nWh
 ile I was gone - Dinner for 8 has been steady gaining new members\, so to t
 he newbies welcome & here is a recap.\n\nSince Feb.\, a group of us have be
 en training for various races: some were training for the Mud Run (which th
 ey did great!) & most of us are training for the Happiest Race on Earth - t
 he Disneyland Half Marathon in Sept.\n\nWe train every Sunday in Santa Moni
 ca by the beach (more or less).  There are 4 parts to our training:\n\nwe r
 un (4-10 miles depending on the week) @ about 11-13 min/mile pace\nwe stret
 ch (you stretch after your run & not before)\nwe work on our abs/core for 3
 0 mins. because flat stomach is sexy \nwe then have a sensible breakfast/br
 unch in Santa Monica\n\nEveryone is welcome as long as you're committed - I
 'm intense & we train hard. If you're up for the challenge then read on & j
 oin us.\n\nThis Sunday is a great time to try us out because this is our re
 covery week (if you don't know what that means come join us & learn about o
 ur training methodology) - 4 easy miles or so.  We run  - we are not a walk
 ing group!  \n\nIf you can't run 4 miles\, no worries - you can join us for
  the abs/core around 9 am.  This week we will focus on push-ups\; plyometri
