You will be filled with vi brations of the humming that will gradually lead to deep silence and relaxa tion. The instructions are as follows\n\nNADABRAHMA or HUMMING MEDITATION\n \nNadabrahma meditation lasts for one hour and has three stages. It is a si tting method\, in which humming and hand movements create an inner balance\ , a harmony between mind and body. Suitable for any time of the day\, have an empty stomach and remain inactive for at least fifteen minutes afterward s.\n\n“So in Nadabrahma\, remember this: let the body and mind be totally t ogether\, but remember that you have to become a witness. Get out of them\, easily\, slowly\, from the back door\, with no fight\, with no struggle.” Osho\n\nFirst Stage: 30 minutes\n\nSit in a relaxed position with eyes clos ed. With lips together\, start humming\, loud enough so that if you are doi ng it with others\, you can be heard by them. This will create a vibration in your body. You can visualize a hollow tube or vessel filled only with th e vibrations of the humming. A point will come when the humming continues b y itself and you become the listener. There is no special breathing\, and y ou can alter the pitch\, and move your body smoothly and slowly\, if you fe el to.\n\nSecond Stage: 15 minutes\n\nThis stage is divided into two segmen ts\, of seven and a half minutes each. For the first part\, move the hands\ , palms upwards\, in an outward\, circular motion. Starting at the navel\, both hands move forward and then divide to make two large circles mirroring each other left and right. The movement should be so slow that at times th ere will appear to be no movement at all. Feel that you are giving energy o utwards to the universe. After seven and a half minutes\, the music will ch ange and you turn your hands palm downwards\, and start moving them in the opposite direction. Now the hands will come together towards the navel and divide outwards towards the side of the body. Feel that you are taking ener gy in. Willow and I will lead so you don’t have to worry about getting lost. You might even see some wildlife. \n\nBring wate r or bottles to fill at the parking lot. I bring about 1/2 gallon for one l arge dog. Bring poop bags\, sun screen or hat if you like\, etc. \n\nIf you sign up please treat your dog for ticks before the hike with something lik e Advantix\, or Frontline Plus\, and bring bug spray or wipes to use at the start of the hike.\n\nThis hike has three levels:\nEasy-Loop Trail\, 1.2 m iles 30 minutes\nHard and about 3 miles\, 2-hours long (taking the Chamise shortcut)\nHard and about 3.63 miles\, 2 1/2 + hours long (depending on bre aks)\n\nLas Trampas has no parking fee or dog fee. Dogs are on leash in the parking lot and picnic areas but on the trails they can be off leash. It i s the crucial to yield to bikers and horses by going to the nearest safe sp ot off the trail to do so but don’t hide in the brush\, just wait to pass o r walk slowly along the side. I find it best to leash up the dogs when you know a bike or horse is coming to avoid any collisions or accidents. \n\n Be aware there may be poison oak in areas along the trail edges so keep an eye out for it and it can be easily avoided. Cattle do graze here and we ma y encounter some either across the creek or on the trail. We just ignore th em and move away but sometimes we have to leash up the dogs to get them pas t the cows. Mama cows can be dangerous so proceed carefully with your Dane. \n\nWe will start off at the staging area (the parking lot) at the end of B ollinger Canyon Road in San Ramon. There are portable bathrooms for us huma ns to use before we go and a water fountain if you need to fill up a water bottle. We will meet in the picnic area along the hillside of the parking l ot.\n\nThis hike can be made for several levels of hiking and can be mild o r strenuous. The first part of the hike is mild and will be along the loop trail that borders the creek. This 15 minute (one way) hike is shaded and p retty easy with smaller rolling hills. We won’t be looping around\, but if you want to hike the easiest part you can join us for this first part and l oop back through the shaded trees when we cut off to the harder part. This first part is 30 minutes round trip at a mild to slow pace and most everyon e can do it\; it’s about 1.2 miles in total.\n\nWe will take a 5-minute bre ak at the end of the shaded loop trail to water the dogs and let them rest in the shade before ascending the long steep Bollinger Creek Trail to Las T rampas Ridge Trail (huff and puff here). This will be a STRENUOUS hike gain ing about 900 feet in elevation in about a half of a mile\, so if you and y our animal friend are not in good hiking shape\, this part probably isn't f or you. We will rest the dogs just after a cow-gate where there is a nice patch of shade then continue up a steep trail to the ridge where we will re st again. Feel free to stop and catch your breath at any time. There are lo ng steep uphill areas where we stop a lot. We go slow here.\n\nAfter the br eak\, we'll make our way up to the ridge and follow it south for about a mi le. This is partly shaded by wonderful mahogany trees and others. It can ge t windy up there but usually we are good with a t-shirt. You can see Walnu t Creek\, Mount Diablo and all around the area\; the views are stunning. We continue on the trail about a mile as it wanders along with easy ups and d owns and only one long uphill stretch. We have two spots we stop for breaks along this part.\n\nAfter about a mile we come across Chamise Trail cutoff to the right. This is where you would cut off if you want to go all downhi ll and head to the parking lot. Chamise trial runs pretty much straight do wn to the street for about a half mile\, then only about a third of a mile to the parking lot. If you or your Dane are tired and need to call it quits this is the place to do it.\n\nIf not too tired\, we shall continue on the ridge trail another half mile and after a few ups and downs\, take the Tra pline Trail which has a super steep downhill. The dogs love the downhill pa rts! We follow Trapline Trail for about a half mile down into the canyon an d to the Mahogany Trail Intersection and take Mahogany Trail a mere 2/10ths of a mile to the Chamise Trail and stumble on downhill to the street and p arking lot. The last part of the Mahogany Trail is up hill\, but then the r est is all downhill.\n\nIn total the longest hike is 3.63 miles and STRENUO US. The midway hike is about 2.92 miles and STRENUOUS but shorter. Total e levation gain I am guessing is close to 1200-1500 feet.
