All of these are rated as 'Moderate'\, but the first half is definitely less moderate.\n\nSection 1 : We will leave the parking lot and follow the Cole Mill Trail west along the Eno River. This will branch off onto the Bob biitt Hole Trail. We'll make a stop at Bobbitt Hole which is a sharp turn i n the river where there are some large rocks and nice water rapids. Then th e trail will loop through the woods and rejoin Cole Mill Trail which will t ake us back to the starting point. This is about 2.85 miles.\n\nSection 2 : We will continue from the trail head east this time following the Eno Rive r on Pea Creek Trail. At a bridge\, we will move on to Dunnagan Trail and d o the loop along the river\, then return back through the woods. This will return us back to the bridge where we will rejoin Pea Creek Trail and follo w the wooded section of that trail back to the parking lot. This section is about 3.1 miles.\n\nThere are some sections with rocks and stumps and root s to navigate\, so hiking boots are strongly recommended\, but sturdy outdo or shoes should suffice.\n\nHere is a link to NC State Park Services for a trail map of this area.\nhttp://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/enri/pics/enri_ east_trails.pdf\n\nDogs are permitted\, but limited to one (1) dog per pers on. Here is a chance to explore a brand new piece of this treasure\ , the Chatham and Durham County sections. Now that the missing bridges have been replaced we will be riding the entire completed trail from Massey Cha pel Rd in Durham County to the southern terminus at New Hill-Olive Chapel R d. in Wake County. We should be back to our cars by early afternoon. After the ride we can gather at a local eating establishment to refuel. This 84-acre preserve is a pen insula\, bounded on 3 sides by the Eno River as it flows eastward towards F alls Lake. \n\nWe'll hike the Riverbend trail for a total distance of abou t a mile and a half (according to the map -- but I think it's closer to 2 m iles). The hike should take about an hour. There is one short uphill sectio n and one gradual downhill but otherwise the trail is mostly level. \n\nHik ing boots are recommended\; sturdy shoes are adequate. Lake Pine is part of Apex Community Park i n Apex. For our hike\, we will meet in the parking lot on the Lake Pine Ro ad entrance\, located midway between Cary Parkway and Rt 64. The Lake Pine Road entrance/parking lot is about 2 miles on the right if you are coming from Cary Parkway. \n\nThe paved trail around the lake is wide and smooth\, an easy walk for all\, with a distance of a little more than 2 miles.
