SUMMARY:Exploration of Mill Creek Park (Youngstown\, OH)
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Hiking Meetup Group\n\nOK. I’ve had people beggi
ng me to go to Mill Creek Park\, near Youngstown\, Ohio. It’s only 43 miles
from Cranberry (same distance as Monroeville to Donegal). Problem is I don
’t really know the trails in Mill Creek Park. I’ve biked there before but I
’ve never hiked there. And the trails are kind of on-again\, off-again. But
\, what the hey …. !! Let’s do it. With all the brain power we will have amassed on site\,
we’ve got to be able to figure out the trails and not get lost. \n\nI have
no idea how many miles. We go up one side of Mill Creek and down the other
side. Let’s say 8 miles and somehow\, we’ll make a loop out of it. You can
study this map of Mill Creek Park (click here for map). \n\nMill Creek cu
ts a neat gorge into the underlying soft limestone of the Ohio plateau. The
 re are rocks\, lakes\, waterfalls\, dirt trails\, boardwalks\, wetlands\, i
slands\, abandoned blacktop\, and many historic sites like Lanterman’s Mill
  and Covered Bridge\, a photo-worthy suspension bridge on the road\, and a
collection of old boathouses and pavilions dating back to the CCC. . \n\nA
  wilderness hike it’s not. A blood-and-guts bootbuster it’s not. Maybe it’s
interesting\, maybe it’s not. We’ll find out. That’s the nature of adventu
re and discovery and exploration. So\, if you’re game\, RSVP “yes” for Mill
Creek Park. \n\nYou can meet us in Cranberry. From there\, you can car poo
l with someone else or drive on your own. Or you can meet us in Youngstown.
 \n\nThis will be a moderately-paced hike with frequent one-minute stops\, n
ot a race\; we will stop to touch the soft limestone of Mill Creek Gorge an
d photograph the many CCC relics along the way. \n\nPlan to stay together a
s a group\, no hikers left behind. Intermediate difficulty\; this may be a
taxing hike\, climbing in and out of the gorge. Temperatures will be chilly
to cold. I hope there’s no mud. We shouldn’t have to cross any streams on
rocks-we should have footbridges all the way. \n\nWe will meet at 9 AM at
Cranberry Mall\, in the parking lot behind King’s Restaurant. This is just
south of the junction of US 19 and PA 228\, easily accessible from I-79 or
the PA Turnpike. I will be wearing a red bandana. You are welcome to call
me at 412.576.0849 for further details or if you can’t find us. \n\nAlterna
tely\, you can meet up with us in Youngstown at the parking lot at the corn
er of Shields Rd and E. Golf Drive (the hike/bike trail). Be there at 10:0
0 AM. The way I usually go is west on the PA Turnpike\, then north on Ohio
Route 7\, and west again on US 224. Go about a mile on 224 and turn right
on West Blvd. In another mile turn left on Shields Rd. Go 100 yards and wat
ch for the parking area on the left side of the road on E. Golf Drive (also
called E. Newport Dr.) There are no rest rooms at that location so stop al
ong OH Route 7 or US 224 at any one of the fast food joints on this road. H
ere is a map for your reference: (click here for map). . When I get there\
, I'll put the red bandana somewhere conspicuous (like my neck). \n\nThe hi
ke will involve approximately 4 hours of hiking\, around 30 minutes for a l
unch break\, and several breaks along the trail. I hike at a moderate 2 mph
pace that includes stops. We wait for all to catch up at trail junctions\,
road or stream crossings\, and the tops of hills\; “no hikers left behind”
. You can plan on being off the trail by 4:00 PM. \n\nThis hike is intermed
iate difficulty. There may be several climbs up and down the sides of the g
orge\, maybe some sections of rough trail. This is not an “easy” hike\, nor
is it a “bootbuster”. However\, this should not be the first time you’ve h
iked 8 miles on a hiking trail. \n\nBring a lunch\, some snacks to eat whil
e hiking\, dress in layers\, and bring at least one quart/liter of water. M
any people enjoy bringing something to share with the group at lunch. This
time of year\, temperatures range from chilly to cold\, so dress in layers
and put on or take off as you need to during the day. \n\nAfter the hike\,
those of us who are so inclined may stop in the area for refreshments\, a s
nack\, or dinner. On the way\, keep your eyes peeled for a good place to st
op. \n\nThere are no fees or charges for this activity\; however\, if you r
ide with someone to the trailhead\, you should offer to contribute to the c
ost of gas and tolls. A carpool contribution of 7 cents per mile is suggest
ed but negotiable. One way distance from Cranberry to the trailhead is abou
t 43 miles ($3.01 each way). Turnpike toll from Cranberry to the Ohio line
is an astonishing $3.75. Splitting the toll 3 ways puts you in the neighbor
hood of $8.50 round trip. So\, if you ride with someone else\, please offer
  to help out with gas and tolls\n\nCranberry Twp\, PA 16066 - USA\n\nSunda

SUMMARY:Raccoon Creek State Park and Apple Pie Hike
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Hiking Meetup Group\n\nNo Steeler game and the w
eather forecast looks fantastic for an afternoon hike. This will be a 5-6 h
ike on the west side of RTE 18\, taking the forest trail to soiux Shelters
where we will take a break and learn and practice some fire making skills.
(without lighters or matches which can not be depended on in an emergency)
. As it gets closer to winter\, every person who hikes\, xxskis or backpa
cks should learn basic fire making skills using steel and magnesium surviav
al kits( very inexpensive to buy and almost no weight.) Bathroom is nearby
\nThe hike will continue on the Pallimino trail and we will work our way do
wn to th wetlands trail where bird sighting are very common. This trail lead
s to the lower lake. They say there is fish in there but I have never caugh
t one yet. From there we will take the heritage trail to the waterfall \,
cave and spring which used to be a resort area. Hike will continue to loop
bak to parking lot so no shuttle is needed. The trail does have some hill
s\, but if you have done southpointe or boyce mayview you will not have a
problem. I recently went to the Hickory Apple festival and upon our return
I will share some of my crumb topping apple pie. I hope to complete hike
in 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Depends on speed of group. Will wait at all intersecti
ons and top of all hills. Do not see any reason why well behaved friends(do
gs) would not be welcome\n\nWhere to meet: In the parking lot of the park
office located on RTE 18. Usually the bathroom is open even if the office i
s closed. Please be prompt. I have choir and will be there by 1:30\, but pr
obably not much earlier. Would like to leave close to 1:30 to ensure we are
out of woods before darkness sets in. \n \nDirections. Take 22 west(aka
22 rte 30 )to Post Gazette Pavillion exit(FLORENCE/BURGETTSTOWN) )( The
PG Pavillion will be on your right when you exit and you turn left on Rte
18 and head north on rte 18. Go about 4 miles or so and the park office is
on your left. \nWhat to bring\; some water\, but there is a pump at top
of hill to replenish. dress for the weather. there are some minor stream c
rossings.Hiking poles are not a bad idea I always have an extra.\n\nHooksto

his first taste of real pain\, outrage at social and ecological injustice\
, and wondering a bit too much about what reality was all about. He soon e
ncountered the writings and vision of the Tibetan meditation master\, Chogy
am Trungpa Rinpoche. Inspired by the path of warriorship and the vision of
enlightened society\, he pursued meditation retreats and training in the S
hambhala Buddhist path. Adam traveled in Tibet\, Nepal\, and India\, study
ing Buddhism with masters from various traditions. He pivotally connected
with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche\, head of the Shambhala lineage\, while on ret
reat in Parphing\, Nepal in 1997.\n\nAfter completing an undergraduate degr
ee in Anthropology\, Adam attended Vajrayana Seminary and then traveled as
the personal attendant to the Sakyong\; accompanying him on a tour of Tibet
. He was co-editor of the Sakyong’s book Turning the Mind into an Ally. \n
\nAdam leads meditation workshops\, courses on Buddhist philosophy and the
social vision of Shambhala. Adam is also the Acharya for the Mipham Academ
y\, an advanced\, annual intensive for Buddhist philosophical and contempla
tive studies at Karme Choling\, Vermont. He teaches meditation to youths w
ithin the prison system and a mental health institutions. He was named an
Acharya in 2004 and completed a Masters of Divinity at Harvard Divinity Sch
ool\, where he helped to establish a track for Buddhist ministers and chapl
ains. His research focuses on philosophy\, phenomenology\, meditation and
the Great Perfection tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.\n\nAdam Lobel is a clos
e student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche who has served as kusung\, editor\, an
d teacher. He lives with his wife and son in Pittsburgh and is a doctoral s

SUMMARY:Sedona Method - Week 12
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Metaphysics Meetup Group\n\nThe Sedona Method is
an easy and effortless way of dissipating the things that stand in our way
. It's an easy process that goes down deep and works out the longstanding
things that works against us. \n\nThe Story\nI had an interesting journey
with this. My friend who is a multi-millionaire gave me a set of the cds a
nd I started reading the books. The first attempt\, I got through the firs
t three cds. It seemed repetitive and my ego was telling me that this was
everything that I already knew and it seemed like there was nothing there.\
 n\nIt wasn't until I received a newsletter in the mail\, that I started to
take this seriously. On the newsletter\, there were a lot of people who we
re saying that they had gotten married within a year or get rich within a y
ear. Reading the brochure\, I realized that the technique was taught to th
e guy who had taught Hale Dwoskin 'The Sedona Method'. Knowing that I need
ed help doing this\, I decided to get together friends to do this weekly.
Within a couple of months\, I meet David\, who eventually became my fiance.
I said that I had wanted a duplex by the end of the year\, and by the end
of the year\, I was living in his duplex. By the end of the next couple o
f months\, I will have bought a real estate property that will ensure my pa
rent's retirement. All the things that I had said that I wanted and put on
my goal list.\n\nSo\, here's round two: I haven't done it much since I've
come out to Pittsburgh\, and I'd love to get it down a bit more and see if
it truly makes a difference in everyone's lives. So\, I'm proposing that
everyone could get Hale Dwoskin's 'Sedona Method' book\, read a chapter a w
eek\, then come together to listen to the audio. There are thirteen cds\,
and 20 chapters\, so hopefully by week 14\, we'll be practiced in the techn
ique that we could talk and then release until we're done with the book. \
n\nWe will be asking for a suggested $5 donation for the use of the space\,
but no one will be turned away for the lack of funds.\n\nPittsburgh\, PA

SUMMARY:The Pittsburgh Fundraisers November Meetup
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Fundraisers Meetup Group\n\nThe name says it all
! (hopefully!) Although this is more or less a presentation\, by no means i
s this a lecture. The more interaction the better. As the organizer of this
group\, I wanted to create an atmosphere where people who have the heart t
o help raise money for the cause(s) they care about most could gather toget
her with organizations in need of financial support in a social environment
and share fundraising ideas and / or stories with one another. \n\nBeing
the president of a local branch of a national non profit organization\, I'
m looking forward to meeting others like myself and sharing what fundraisin
g tools our branch uses. To be completely honest\, one of the methods we ar
e about to implement is so exciting I can't wait to share it with everyone!
The cost to our organization to use this method is nothing\, we can partne
r with other organizations (in fact\, the more organizations we partner wit
h\, the more each organization will earn)\, and even the volunteers that ac
tively participate in the campaign will earn money too! \n\nI know it may
be a little hard to believe\, but there are socially responsible corporati
ons out there that have programs designed to give a portion of their profit
s back to non profit organizations. You'll be surprised and excited about m
any of the programs and methods that exists! I can't wait to share some of
them with you all. \n\nPlease bring paper and pen to take notes. Also\, fe
el free to invite anyone you feel that could benefit from learning about ne
w ways to fund raise. The more the merrier!\n\nMonroeville\, PA 15146 - US

SUMMARY:A Brillobox storytelling event
DESCRIPTION:The Yarn: Pittsburgh's Storytelling Series\n\nHi everyone!\n\nF
irst\, I want to say thanks for joining... Getting this off the ground as o
ur own group has taken quite a bit of footwork and we are still trying to c
ommit a regular space for our meetups. \n\nIn the mean time\, there will b
e a storytelling event of some sort at the Brillobox (4104 Penn Ave) before
their regular comedy night on November 10. It is organized by local perso
nality Gab Bonesso. As of right now\, I only have minimal details but if y
ou get a chance to come down\, it would be great to see some local talent (
and spread the word about our group!). As far as I know they already have
the storytellers lined up and may not be picking from the crowd\, but I'll
post more details as I confirm them.\n\nAnyways\, this isn't an official "T
he Yarn" event\, but it is for the good of the art\, so please come out and
see how it goes. \n\nAlso\, because Brillo is a bar\, please be aware that
you must be 21+ to enter. Also\, Brillo is now smoke-free\, for all of yo
u who (like myself) avoided it because the smoke was just too damn thick. \
n\nLike I said\, more details as they emerge. \n\nOh\, and\, if anyone woul
d be interested in having a meeting to discuss how to tell a good story\, l
isten to some examples and just generally hang out sometime\, let me know!\

SUMMARY:Lighting Basics -- Using a "beauty dish" and ring light
DESCRIPTION:Pittsburgh's Model and Photographer Meetup Group\n\nThings got
 a little confused\, and I'm scheduling this a bit late\, one-week notice an
d all.\n\nBut\, I do want to keep the Wednesday Workshops going\, and to ha
ve inexpensive "basics" mixed in with the more elaborate and expensive work
shops.\n\nSo\, this week we are looking at working with a "Beauty Dish" (I
have the white Alien Bees 22" one) and a ringlight with the "moon" attachm
ent. Both give soft light\, in a slightly different way\, and you'll also
be able to see the difference between using a basic ring light vs a soft b
ox and umbrella.\n\nWe'll have some comparative lighting set ups ready\, an
d you'll be able to shoot images and take them home to compare them\, and s
tudy.\n\nIt's a way to see how different lights change the lighting\, and h
ow different lighting affects the image. You'll have a chance to play wit
h some things you might not otherwise have a chance to. \n\nNothing fancy
\, and designed to be added to your skill set or bag of tricks\, not necess
arily to get new images for your portfolio. \n\nStart time is 6:00pm\, and
end time 9:00pm. That can be a little flexible\, and you won't miss much
if you have to come later\, or leave early. Just let us know so we make s
ure you get your time in with lighting.\n\n$50 per person\, MC/Visa/Discove

SUMMARY:Cask Beer at Pipers Pub
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Beer Meetup\n\nMany of you have probably heard r
umblings about "cask ale" or "real ale" wafting around the beer world. Both
refer to beer served using old-school storage/dispensing technology in pla
ce of the force carbonation systems. The idea is that carbonation is added
by letting a beer condition in a closed container and manually pulling out
the result while replacing air to fill in the volume you've extracted. The
result is a very traditional beer with a far more complex flavor than you m
ight be used to.\n\nPipers Pub it's Pittsburgh's very own "Real Ale Advocat
e." They tend to keep two beers on cask\, in addition to a wide variety of
European-themed beers both in bottles and from a more typical forced-CO2 dr
aft system. It's a good break from the ongoing "my IPA is hoppier and highe
r alcohol than your IPA" battle that makes up much of the craft beer univer
se.\n\nBasically\, if you like beer...it's worth checking them out.\n\nPitt

SUMMARY:Body-Centered Meditation and Yoga
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Metaphysics Meetup Group\n\nAs paradoxical as it
may seem\, one of the most direct and powerful ways to inner peace and cla
rity is through cultivation of the body. It's been said that the body is m
erely that part of the soul or spirit that is plainly visible and tangible.
Everything that we experience and grow from has an effect on the body. E
very experience leaves traces. They may be subtle\, but they are real and
they accumulate.\n\nSo the more we feel anger\, the easier it is for us to
feel anger. The more we feel peaceful\, the more easily we can revisit pea
ce - even in a chaotic world. Beyond that\, there are many benefits of hav
ing a calm center. Better health\, more clarity\, and a greater sense of e
ase are just a few.\n\nJoin us as we explore various techniques drawn from
Kriya yoga\, tantra\, and shamanism. This is an on-going group that is als
o open to newcomers. We combine group discussion of triumphs and challenge
s and different techniques with active exploration of meditation and yoga.\
n\nAll are welcome. Yoga mats are not necessary. Comfortable clothing suit
able for bending and stretching is recommended. Come create together and s
hare in the warmth\, welcome\, and wisdom.\n\nRecommended minimum donation:
   $10.\n\n-------------------------\n\nDuring a near-death experience\, Dav
id Park realized the profoundness of letting go and living in joy. Since th
at time\, he has dedicated himself to realizing the power and simplicity of
this vision\, both in his own life and as a path to helping others and hea
ling the planet. David draws from many traditions\, including Intuitive Pra
nic Healing\, Kriya Yoga and meditation\, and shamanism. As a teacher\, wri
ter\, and personal success coach\, he helps others to overcome blocks to gr
 eater success and joy.\n\nPittsburgh\, PA 15217 - USA\n\nWednesday\, Novem

SUMMARY:Coffee Loves Music at Coffee Tree Roasters in Shadyside
DESCRIPTION:Coffee Shop Meet Up\n\nThis was so much fun last time\, that I
decided to post it again! Last time we had classical Indian music\, the Bea
 tles\, Indigo Girls\, Paul Simon\, an original composition\, a movie soundt
 rack quiz\, and a lot more! \n\nIf you're into music\, and even if you're n
 ot\, here's a great opportunity to share any music you're interested in\, h
ave a cup of coffee or tea\, and engage in conversation. We'll meet at Coff
ee Tree Roasters in Shadyside to chat\, drink coffee\, and listen to music.
You can bring your favorite CDs or music on iPod/MP3 player to share -- yo
u can even bring an instrument to play if you'd like. And you can just come
for the coffee and company – you absolutely aren't required to bring music
. \n\nBring any music -- if you have music of your own creation\, if you're
passionate about a particular musician or band\, or if you just like somet
hing and feel like sharing. It could be a recent find or something that inf
luenced your childhood and got you though your teenage years. It could be s
omething you love or it could even be something you hate -- just tell us wh
 y. Music is as much a story as anything -- it could be a story of you\, or
the story of the artist who created the music\, or the story could be embed
ded in the song itself waiting for us to listen. Feel free to bring a story
to share along with the music -- or not\, if you prefer. \n\nWe're totally
open to any kind of music so\, please\, bring anything you'd like to share
be it classical\, ethnic\, heavy metal\, or whatever -- even classical eth
nic heavy metal (I bet it exists). If you can bring a boom box or speakers
(for MP3 players) please mention it in your RSVP. We'll be meeting at Coffe
e Tree Roasters on Thursday the 12th from 7pm (to probably 9pm though the r
oom's booked until 10pm). Thanks to fellow meeps who suggested I post this.
If you were in on the discussion\, I know I was planning to post for a Wed
nesday or Thursday but Coffee Tree has regular weekly meetings in the meeti
ng room those nights. \n\nThis event is also posted on meetin.org.\n\nPitts

SUMMARY:North Fork Mountain (NFM) Trail\, West Virginia
DESCRIPTION:The Southwestern PA Backpackers Meetup Group\n\nBackpacking the
North Fork Mountain (NFM) Trail\, West Virginia. I have backpacked and hik
ed this awesome trail before. The plan is to backpack 8 miles per day for 3
days to complete the 23.8 mile trail. We would stash water roughly at the
trail midpoint since there is no reliable water source along the trail only
a spring which we can’t rely on. We need to do a vehicle shuttle so need
a few cars. There are two awesome campsites at 8 and 16 miles and that's wh
ere we will be spend the nights. My dates in mind for the actual backpackin
g providing there is not a great possibility of rain are 11-13(F)\, 11-14(S
T)\, and 11-15(SN). You must have prior backpacking experience\, this outin
g is moderately strenuous\, and the pace will be moderate so we can enjoy t
he many scenic viewpoints. I got a very close up view of a mature bald eagl
e this Spring from one of the may overlooks. \n\nWe can meet on Thursday
night at the northern terminus of the NFM Trail so we can get an early star
t to set-up the vehicle shuttle and drop-off water at the midpoint. There i
s a flat area a short distance from the northern terminus parking area wher
e we can camp Thursday night. I passed by it this Spring and it is mentione
d in the MNF Hiking Guide. There are spots for a few tents. Take WV28 east/
north from Seneca Rocks then make a right onto FR74\, you will cross a bran
ch of the Potomac River\, and a short distance on your right hand side will
be a small area for parking at the northern terminus of the NFM Trail. Ple
ase watch for FR74\, it also eventually goes to the Smoke Hole Rec. Area. I
f you reach Petersburg\, WV on WV28 then you have gone too far. There is lo
dging and other camping in the area so that is an option too. I will meet e
veryone at the northern terminus parking area at 745-8AM on Friday in case
others choose not to camp in the northern terminus area Thursday night. \n\
nPlease bring sufficient water for the midpoint water drop-off.\n\nSeneca R

SUMMARY:Friday 13th Night Hike to REI
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Hiking Meetup Group\n\nMany hikers have expresse
d to me that they do not have proper clothing to hike in the cold weather o
r when it rains. REI is an upper end outdoor gear shop that supplies equip
ment and clothing for hiking\, backpacking\, biking\, kayaking\, rock climb
ing\, and just about every other outdoor pursuit you can think of. REI is
provinding each participant of this hike with a 15 % off coupon on any regu
lar priced item. This is also a great place to get a headlamp for any nigh
t activity. I do not have stock in REI\, and I get nothing. But I have be
en very pleased with everything I have purchased\, and their return policy
is very liberal.. REI also has a climbing wall and if there is interest\,
we can reserve it some night at a later time. \n\nHike Details: \nWe will
meet at the jail trail trailhead located at Swinburne Street. That is locat
ed off of Second Ave.\, just after passing the Hot Metal bridge going out o
f town. Turn left on Swinburne and then make the first RIGHT into the parki
ng lot. There are bathrooms there. Do not go into the parking lot on the l
eft because that is reserved for UPMC employees. PLease be prompt as we pl
an to leave at 6:30 p.m.. \n\nThe hike will be about 6 miles and we walk a
brisk pace of 2.5 -3 mph. Unlike most of my other hikes\, THERE ARE NO HI
LLS!. I would classify this as an intermediate hike due to the distance a
nd brisk pace. We will be on all paved hiking trails or crushed limestone.
The hike will follow the jail trail to Smithfield St bridge and we will cro
ss over river to Station Square. The view of the city lit at night from her
e is spectacular.. The trail then goes along the river through riverfront p
ark\, and through a wooded area(lights needed)\, till we get to REI . Hopef
ully we will get there about 8:00. We will have some time to shop since th
e store is open till 9:00 .(bathroom available ). You are free to return to
your car\, just a few minutes away over the Hot metal Bridge new 12 milli
on dollar walkway(another fantastic view of the city)\, or you are welcome
to stay and have dinner at the German Brew Works\, Cheesecake factory\, Sp
anish Tapa's\, or there is also a good Irish Place that has heaters outsid
 e. \n\nWhat to bring: water and a light. dress for the weather. The hike
will go on no matter the weather. If weather is too severe we may take sh
ortcut just to REI. $$$ for rei or for dinner.\n\nWhen participating in Pi
ttsburgh Hiking Meetup events\, it is assumed that all participants are res
ponsible for their own safety and of their dependents (such as children) at
the event. The facilitator is simply providing an opportunity for everyone
to enjoy the event together and is not assuming responsibility or liabilit

nThis challenging loop over rocky terrain takes hikers to the highest point

SUMMARY:Rachel Carson Trail Hike 3 Difficult
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Hiking Meetup Group\n\nThis will be a 7.7 mile h
ike on the challenging Rachel Carson Trail. This is the 3rd segment\, from
the Springdale VFW to Emmerling Park. If you are out of shape\, or haven't
been hiking\, this is not for you. It will be agonizing\, and you will be h
olding everyone else up. \n\n Getting on these hills is the best way to se
e if you would be interested in or capable of completing the Rachel Carson
 Trail Challenge. http://www.rachelcarsontrails.org/rct/challenge\n\nThis is
considered the toughest of the 4 segments\, and includes Log Cabin Hill (u
p and long down)\, Lefever Hill (long up)\, and Rich Hill (down). Going dow
n Log Cabin Hill in particular can be quite challenging if it's not complet
ely dry. These can be intimidating for a first timer. Hiking poles do make
it more manageable. There will be quite a variety of terrain\, some scenic\
, some not\, including over 2 miles of road walking\, and many hills. \n\nI
will be hiking at the back of the group\, but for those who are familiar w
ith the trail\, feel free to go ahead at you own pace. If you haven't been
on the trail before\, it is easy to get lost\, and you should stay with som
eone who knows where they are going. I would expect to be done in between 3
hours 15 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes.\n\nWe will meet at the Emmerling P
ark at 9:45 AM. There is a large parking area. At 10:00 AM\, we will then s
huttle the group in as few cars as possible to the start area at the Spring
dale VFW. Since this is a shuttle hike\, NO DOGS are permitted.\n\nPlease c
heck the weather and dress appropriately. Hiking boots are a good idea\, th
is trail will be muddy in spots if it has recently rained. Bring a quart or
two of water\, a snack\, and some lunch. We'll take about a 15 minute brea
 k about halfway through.\n\nCheswick\, PA 15024 - USA\n\nSunday\, November

SUMMARY:Hells Hollow Falls to McConnells Mill 8 mi hike + Browns Country
 Kitchen
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Hiking Meetup Group\n\nHells Hollow Falls to McC
onnells Mill 8 mile hike\n+ Eating at Browns Country Kitchen\nDifficulty o
f this Hike(7 out of 10)\nDon't do this hike if you are not in shape.\n\nWe
are hiking from Hells Hollow Falls to McConnells Mill. Beautiful Scenery
\, Awesome Waterfall\, a historical Mill \,Covered Bridge and some challeng
ing hiking.\n\nAfterward we are going to the Browns Country Kitchen Restaur
ant on Rt. 488 for a bite to eat!\n\nWe are meeting at this parking lot clo
se the the Mill at the park before 10am (CLICK ON THIS GOOGLE MAP LINK! And
then select get directions to give you directions to this parking lot).\n\
nOnce everyone is gathered together at 10am at the Parking Lot close to the
intersection of Kildoo and McConnells Mill Road... (WE NEED YOU TO BE AT
THE PARKING LOT BEFORE 10AM!)\n\nWe will get a HEADCOUNT and Portage People
to the beginning of the Trail by Hells Hollow Falls. We should start hiki
ng by 10:30 am. The hike will take about 4.5 hours at the most including r
ests. \n\nThis is a dog friendly hike. And also a kid friendly hike (as l
ong as the dogs\\kids and the parents are IN SHAPE! This is a tough hike).
\n Map of McConnels Mill State Park (PDF)\n\nLook for Hells Hollow Falls as
our Start Point of the Trail\, End Point of the Trail is the McConnells Mi
ll. Meeting Point is Parking Lot at corner of Kildoo Road and McConnells
Mill Road.\n\nHells Hollow: 0.5-mile\, easy hiking\nThis trail begins at t
he Hells Hollow parking lot and follows and twice crosses Hell Run on its w
ay to a limekiln and Hells Hollow Falls. Although the main trail is smooth
and level\, the section by the waterfall can be slippery.\n\nKildoo: 2-mile
loop\, moderate hiking (we are only hiking one mile of this trail).\nKildo
o trail is south of the Old Mill and begins at either end of the covered br
idge. This trail is a delightful walk along Slippery Rock Creek. The first
400 yards of the trail on the east bank of the creek is paved for the self-
guiding interpretive/nature trail. The trail continues on rocky terrain to
Eckert Bridge where hikers cross Slippery Rock Creek and hike up the west s
ide of the creek to the covered bridge. The western section of the trail ha
s blue blazes and is part of the North Country National Scenic Trail.\n\nSl
ippery Rock Gorge: 6.2 miles\, blue blazes\, moderate to difficult hiking\n
Part of the North Country National Scenic Trail\, Slippery Rock Gorge Trail
begins jointly with Hells Hollow Trail at the Hells Hollow parking lot. Th
e Gorge Trail splits off just before the second footbridge. The first two m
iles of the trail follows the upper Hell Run Valley. The rest of the trail
follows the Slippery Rock Creek Gorge north for just over four miles to Eck
ert Bridge. At about the 3.5-mile point\, the trail descends into the deepe
st part of the gorge. This broad alluvial flood plain is known as Walnut Fl
ats. The trail then becomes more difficult\, traversing very steep terrain.
At the 5-mile point\, the trail crosses uplands then drops back down to cr
eek level and follows along the creek bank to Eckert Bridge.\n\nAdvice: Thi
s is a fun but tough hike. If you cannot hike up large hills without bein
g very winded\, do not do this trail. This trail will chew up Couch Potat
oes! People who are in Moderately good Shape will be tired after this hike
 .\n\nBring a Camelback\\Water\, Hiking Pole\, Appropriate Clothing\\Shoes\\
Boots\, and something to snack on.\n\nFrank's Contact Info: Email: frank@p

SUMMARY:Brunch at the Square Cafe in Regent Square
DESCRIPTION:Coffee Shop Meet Up\n\nIf you haven't realized from all the bru
nch posts lately -- I love brunch! :) Someone on MeetIn just posted a terri
fic triple feature of Three Rivers Film Festival movies for Sunday\, Novemb
er 15th. Since Regent Square Theater is just steps away from the Square Caf
e\, I was compelled to post brunch -- ok\, I was convinced to post\, but ho
nestly it doesn't take much when brunch is in question. I've heard great th
ings about the Square Cafe from friends and co-workers that live in the are
a\, but haven't yet made it over so am glad to get a chance to check it out
! \n\nBreakfast is served all day\, and ranges from savory (breakfast burri
tos and omelets) to sweet (nutella crepes and french toast). If you're look
 ing for more lunch-like fare\, they have a full range of wraps\, salads\, a
nd sandwiches. Take a look at the breakfast and lunch menus for details. Th
e food looks awesome -- which is good as we're going to need a good lunch t
o make it through the movie triple feature. :) We'll meet at 1pm outside Sq

early since it's hip to be square -- at least at the Square Cafe.\n\nPitts

SUMMARY:Sedona Method - Week 13

SUMMARY:Practices for Prosperity and Abundance - II
DESCRIPTION:The Pittsburgh Metaphysics Meetup Group\n\nPlease note\, this i
s the second of two classes.\n\nFor better or for worse\, autumn brings not
only colder weather and shorter days\, but also the promise of winter and
the holidays. For some\, this is a happy time\, full of excitement and pos
sibility. For others\, it is a time of overwhelm as everything seems to co
me to a head at once and we struggle as we feel pushed forward by events ra
ther than making our reality joyfully and easily.\n\nRegardless of how the
season feels for you\, staying in touch with your inner sense of joy and pu
rpose can be vital. If you’re already riding high\, it can take you higher
\, farther\, and faster forward. If you’re feeling frustrated or overwhelm
ed\, it can bring you back to a sense of centeredness and peace.\n\nBeyond
tasks and projects\, the holidays are also a time of re-connecting with fam
ily and old friends. Hopefully\, this is a joyous prospect for you. Unfor
tunately\, for many\, it is not. One man always had to “detox” for several
weeks after visiting his parents for just a weekend.\n\nThere is also the
true story of a young woman who decided to spend a long holiday weekend wit
h her family for the first time in several years. She had been avoiding th
e whole clan because of all of the arguments and frustration that always ha
ppened.\n\nFortunately\, she’d done a lot of work to release old arguments
and anger and was able to join them with genuine love and appreciation. Sh
e had a wonderful time with her family and noticed that not only did she no
t have any fights\, no one else did\, either.\n\nJoin us for a gentle intro
duction to the Law of Attraction and other success principles\, including m
ore advanced techniques for recognizing and releasing old patterns\, expect
ations\, frustration\, and anger. Once these things are fully released\, y
ou don’t have to deal with them the same way ever again. If they do return
as echoes\, they are easily recognized and released\, making room for more
joyful creations.\n\nAs a regular practice\, these techniques can help you
to move forward quickly and gracefully\, resolving “stuck” areas or patter
ns that may have persisted for years or even decades.\n\nIn this class\, we
will:\n\n·	Review the basic principles of the Law of Attraction and consid
er how the same principles are reflected in other traditions\, some very an
cient. \n·	Examine the relationship of the concepts of karma and of receivi
ng. \n·	Practice practical\, effective tools for recognizing and releasing
old patterns and expectations (karma).\n\n\nCost: $25 per class (2 classes
). \n\nPlease set your intention to arrive at least 15 minutes early to al
low for a prompt start. There is a lot of material to explore.\n\n

SUMMARY:Constitution Party of Allegheny County Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Supporters of Ron Paul's Campaign For Liberty: Pittsburgh\n\nTh
e history of Thanksgiving is an interesting tale. The very first national &
 #8220\;Thanksgiving Day\,&#8221\; established on November 26\, 1789\, was c
reated by George Washington for &#8220\;giving thanks&#8221\; for the U.S.
Constitution.\nMuch has happened since that first Thanksgiving.\nOur form o
f government has changed.\nToday if you ask the question:\n"What is the pur
pose of government?"\nMost politicians in America today will say something
like: \nThe purpose of Government is to provide a level playing field \nThe
purpose of Government is to make everybody safe \nThe purpose of Governmen
t is to maintain the infrastructure \nThe purpose of Government is to take
care of people who can&#8217\;t take care of themselves \nThese common answ
ers to this question involve some degree or other of a socialist sentiment.
\nLet&#8217\;s compare this to what Thomas Jefferson said the purpose of g
overnment is. He said\, &#8220\;To secure these rights\, governments are in
stituted among men\, deriving their just power from the consent of the gove
rned.&#8221\; \nSo\, the purpose of government is to protect God-given ri
ghts. \nThe sad truth is that most elected and most appointed officials tod
ay think that the purpose of government is to redistribute wealth -- your w
 ealth. \nIt has to be your wealth because the U.S. Government doesn&#8217\;
t have any wealth. In fact\, our federal government is broke. Actually it&#
8217\;s worse than broke. It&#8217\;s trillions of dollars in debt. And it
&#8217\;s getting worse and our leaders don&#8217\;t care. At least if you
judge how much they care by their commitment to do something about it. \nOu
r foundations have been destroyed because our leaders have forsaken the tr
ue purpose of government and the true source of law and liberty. Both major
parties have adopted the presuppositions of socialism and they have abando
ned the presuppositions of America. The major parties do not represent th
e ideas and principles upon which our country was founded. They have thus
broken covenant with the American people. \nThis is why our federal bureauc
racies have parasitically devoured the resources and the liberty of a peopl
e to whom they are pledged to be accountable. This is why the federal court
s have forsaken the rule of law and rule illegally and unconstitutionally b
y the fiat of judicial oligarchs who have been methodically eliminating all
acknowledgment and memory of our Christian history and heritage. \nEven no
w\, the foundations are being destroyed by blatant attacks on the right of
the people to acknowledge the God upon whom our nation was founded. \nWhat
we must do\, however\, is learn our history and learn from it. \nIn short\
, we are called to honor the Sovereignty of God &#8211\; defend the America
n Family &#8211\; and Restore the American Republic. \nWe&#8217\;ve been in
doctrinated so that we ask\, &#8220\;What does God have to do with governme
nt?&#8221\; \nWell\, this question would have been easily answered by our f
ounders. They understood the connection between the two. \nFor example\, in
  his October 3\, 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation\, George Washington\, the f
ather of our country\, said &#8220\;It is the duty of all nations to acknow
ledge the providence of Almighty God\, to obey His will\, to be grateful fo
r His benefits\, and humbly to implore His protection and favor.&#8221\; \
nI never thought I&#8217\;d see the day in America when any judge would tel
l any state official that He could not acknowledge the sovereignty of the G
od of the Bible and attribute to Him our religious freedom. But this is exa
ctly what U.S. District Court Judge Myron Thompson told Alabama Supreme Cou
rt Chief Justice Roy Moore he could not do! \nMillions of Americans have n
o idea that the form of government our founders bequeathed us was not a dem
ocracy but a Constitutional &#8211\; Representative -- A lot more dangerous
&#8211\; is the obvious fact that most of those running the three branches
of our national government &#8211\; both Democrats and Republicans &#8211\
; do not care that our founders gave us a Constitutional &#8211\; Represent
ative &#8211\; Republic. \nIdeas and principles which we fail to advocate
in the political arena are lost to history. The principle of liberty under
law must not suffer that fate. It must be preserved\, protected and defende
 d. \nGeorge Washington said that it is up to us to &#8220\;raise a standard
to which the wise and honest may repair\, recognizing that the event is in
the hands of God.&#8221\; \nAnd John Quincy Adams wrote\, &#8220\;Duty is
ours\, consequences are God&#8217\;s.&#8221\;\nDuring the month of November
you are invited to join us at our monthly meeting at Panera Bread.\nWe wil
l not have our regular monthly meeting during December because of the holid
ays.\nHowever we hope you would consider attending the November meeting and
if you cannot make it to the November meeting\, mark your calendar for th
e third Tuesday of January and join us for the new year.\n\nPittsburgh\, PA
