UCSC Opera: Little Women

  • Jun 2, 2012 · 7:30 PM
  • UCSC Music Center Recital Hall

UCSC's award-winning Opera Theatre presents a fully staged production of this contemporary opera by Mark Adamo, based on the beloved book by Louisa May Alcott. Little Women features the UCSC Orchestra and top singers from UCSC's voice program. It is directed by Brian Staufenbiel and conducted by the stellar Nicole Paiement. Learn more about the concert here. UCSC opera productions are always exciting and well-attended. Purchase your reserved-seat tickets soon for the best seat selection. I'll be sitting in Row I, Seat 204.

Since we're attending a campus event, let's try a favorite student hangout for dinner: burger. I've heard good things about this place. For those non-meat-eaters, burger. also serves salmon burgers, veggie burgers, salads and wood-fired pizzas. It is located on the corner of Mission and Bay Streets in Santa Cruz.

We'll meet for dinner at 5:45. At 6:45 we'll head up to the UCSC campus. If you can't join us for dinner, look for us in the Recital Hall lobby between 7 and 7:15. We'll meet in the lobby again at intermission and after the performance. I'll be wearing my red beret.

For questions, email me, or call my cell phone:[masked]-0442. Hope to see you there!

I liked the opera better and better as it went along. The soprano who played Jo was a standout. Very nice to see Eileen and Angelika.
