It's Concert No. 2 in the Symphony's yearlong quest for a new conductor. This time we'll hear Beethoven, Wagner, and Sibelius, under the baton of finalist Anthony Quartuccio, Jr., who currently conducts Opera San Jose and the San Jose Chamber Orchestra. Seventeen-year-old violin virtuoso Mayumi Kanagawa will perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto.
My seat is Section J, Row H, Seat 15. You may want to get a seat nearby. Once you purchase your ticket, post your seat number on our page in case others want to sit near you.
Let's try something different for dinner: Louie's Cajun Kitchen, 110 Church Street. Join us at 5:30 for a full meal or light snack. I'll make a reservation, so be sure to let me know if your plans change.
A little before 7 we'll walk over to the Civic Auditorium to catch the Pre-Concert Talk at 7. These talks, by Cabrillo College Music Instructor Don Adkins, are always fun and informative. Find us sitting near the back of the orchestra section for the talk. If you can't join us for dinner or the talk, look for us on the steps of the Civic between 7:30 and 7:45. We'll meet on the steps again at intermission and after the concert to chat. I'll be wearing my red beret. Call my cell phone if you can't find me:[masked]-0442.
Hope you can join us for a fun evening!
