Interested in learning to sail? The Clear Lake Sailing Club will be sponsoring a FREE "Introduction to Sailing" class on Saturday, June 22nd. Classes are targeted to beginners interested in the sport of small sailboat (under 20 feet in length) sailing. Class size is limited to the first 25 registrations. This class is for adults and young adults over 15 years old. Class attendance does not require membership in the Clear Lake Sailing Club and is open to the general public. This is a 5 hour session in a classroom at the library, so plan accordingly.
[ UPDATE: For the Saturday session, since this is in a classroom setting, please bring a small notebook and pen for taking notes during the class. Dress code is relaxed: typical library environment ].
If the student then wishes to exercise what they have learned in class, they are invited to become a member of the Clear Lake Sailing Club (membership form). An on-the-water exercise will be separately made available to all students, scheduled on the day after the class (weather permitting). Note that only members are permitted to use the club's sailboat to get hands on sailing experience. During the demonstration, students will rig a small sailboat and exercise basic sailing maneuvers. This is where you can really prove to yourself that you understand the basics of sailing! Participants must be comfortable in the water and know how to swim. Note that the annual one year membership in the Clear Lake Sailing Club is $75. We are a 501-c-3 non-profit organization whose only goal is to promote sailing in the local area.
