  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • Let's talk:

    • Platforms (OpenStreetMap, GeoCommons,...)
    • Formats (KML, ESRI shapefiles, GeoJSON, GeoRSS,...)
    • Tools, (OpenLayers, JOSM, Mapnik, TileMill,...)
    • Mapping on the web and on mobile devices.
    • Who's working on what, and who wants help?

Howdy all! Is this geo-hacking group active?

Steve and I have been really busy recently but as tweeted out in November, if anyone wants to help organize the next meeting, that'd be greatly appreciated and encouraged.

I'll see if I can find a place. Would most people like to meet after 6pm, during the week?

OpenGeoCLE [twitter.com/opengeocle] (which was an offshoot of the vic hacking group and was in response to this original proposed meetup) covers many of topics mentioned in the description. We're due for a meeting soon - we've met in the past at LaunchHouse at 6PM but I haven't set a date yet because I haven't set a specific topic yet.

That said, if there's a specific thing you want to see or would like to present on, that would be awesome and welcome!

    Does anyone here do Java?

I have tilemill available on an EC2 instance thats just chilling (expensive to run!) but I could get it moving if need be. Tilemill is SOOO easy - its like CSS for entire OL map layers. Very powerful. Lets you map multiple datasets in as well in various formats.

Also, we have experience with pentaho/Kettle and continuous integration for doing some hefty work in shuttling data around.
