Subtopics and presenters:
We could still use someone to talk about LDAP and single sign-on... If you'd like to talk about this or or something else related to users, please say so in the comments!
Jeff, I can take on the profiles subject. It will cover the profile2 module which has replaced the core module profile. It looks like it has lots of very useful features/capabilities.
I could show a thing or two about Views and Users - maybe squeeze in VBO and a quick rules component for bulk role assignment?
Joe and Richard, awesome: let's roll with those. Joe, can you talk briefly about core profile and where it lacks (and hence the reason for profile2?) Richard: if you can have the VBO and Rules bits set up beforehand, those are good ideas for things to give folks a taste of!
Jeff,
In preparing some ideas for a presentation, I enabled the Profile2 module, which seemed to have some good features until it crashed my site! In addition, it cannot be disabled without totally locking me out of the site! So far it looks like a pretty short presentation :) It has also made me realize how important Git and Drush are. I mentioned the trouble I am having there at the last meeting. Has the group ever presented on those two essential drupal components?
Joe: we've had a full presentation on Git, and a couple mini-intros to drush. They both deserve more time... Sorry Profile2 is giving you trouble. Figure out what's going on yet?
Hi Jeff; I would be happy to share my experience on the Facebook/OpenID or the roles, permissions and access control.
Ryan: that would be awesome if you could talk about Facebook/OpenID! I think Tom Seeber is going to take on "roles, permissions, and access control"
Jeff: I do not have a laptop. I assume there will be one to use if I bring a powerpoint on a thumbdrive?
Joe: You can use my laptop. See if PowerPoint can save it in PDF format too, just in case LibreOffice doesn't like the file...
How long do you expect this meetup to last? I'm hoping to be able to attend, but I have an obligation that may prevent me from being there right at 3pm.
Ellen: we are almost always there til they kick us out for the library's 6pm close. Hope you decide to come!
Looking for 4-6 presenters for sub-topics, 10-20 minutes each!
