That said, I learned a long time ago that discussions of these sort never end and it’s impossible to accommodate everyone.  I think we (Tim?) should select a time and stick to it.  If people are sufficiently committed they’ll find a way to make it.

I'd rather do it early or late. Having it right in the middle of the day just burns an entire day.

Awesome -- how does everyone feel about Sat from 2-5?

I'll be away September 3 + September 24.

Edgar -- i'm a novice -- some familiarity w/ linear algebra + statistics.

I've been following a cool ML project @ cmu -- http://graphlab.org/

I've also been a big fan of Andrew Ng since i saw his google tech talk here:

Joe - now that is a good idea :)

It's only once a month anyway - so it would only take an 1/8 of the study group time away (since that one day would be split) - and the upside is that it works logistically, and as you eluded to, synergistically.

I'm in favor of this idea.  I wouldn't like for people to have to choose 1 or the other.  Both groups' goals are very complimentary (with very little overlap), and people would get a lot of mileage from participating in both.

Good thinking.

Perhaps the 2 groups could be combined on that day, and split the time, half for AI course study, half for the AI application focus of the NEO AI group. That would also enable what's being learned to be immediately applied.

That's fine if people like it ... but I'm not too crazy about that time because it bumps right into the NE Ohio AI group's time slot.

Granted, the NE Ohio AI group will only meet once a month (max) - but if there is a big enough crossover between the two groups, it'll  affect the turnout.    Just sayin'

Thanks,

Hello All,
Sunday is bad for 2 people and Thursday is bad for 1 person, so I suggest Saturday afternoons from 2 to 5.
