Thanks Timmy, that book does look like the ticket. The next AI chapter is lucky number 13, on probability and Bayes networks, and the one after that is on ML, so it looks like we will be taking our chances with probability for a few weeks.

I just did a quick run-through of the ML Probability notes -- http://www.stanford.edu/class/cs229/section/cs229-prob.pdf

The end of the notes recommend the text book -- 'A First Course on Probability'

After reading this review -- http://www.amazon.com/review/R12POSKTH1OQOM/ref=cm_cr_pr_cmt

It looks like the following is a better/warmer leaning tool -- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0780310519/ref=cm_cr_asin_lnk

And much cheaper!

We covered more very useful details of chapter 3 such as A*, admissible, heuristics, problem formulation, relaxed problem and the 8 tile problem. We also covered some Bayesian concepts and the beginning of the ML Probability review document, which is on the ML course materials page. The Khan videos are great to get started with for reviewing Linear Algebra and Probability, but for those taking the ML course, the ML course review documents will likely be needed as well.
