The Greater Cleveland Writers Meet up Group Monthly Meetup

  • Apr 7, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

We'll introduce new visitors, and do a quick recap of what every one is working on.

Bring samples of your 'work' to share, or a question, a struggle, .... this group has a ton of experience, or at least a ton of empathy. Any writer is welcome, and genre. Sci-Fi, Fiction, Fantasy, Technical, Non-Fiction, you name it.... We will stay in the main area of books, but can also discuss freelancing to magazines, zines, blogging for fun and profit, you name it. Create a 30 second elevator speech on your work, and why some one should publish it.... and where?

If you don't know what an elevator speech is, that's ok, once you join you can access an elevator speech template in our files section! Most importantly, what are you willing to do about getting published? Or what does being published mean to you.

You'd be surprised how many writers never intend to make money from their writing, but just want to be published. I'll also discuss what I find are the top 5 reasons most writers never publish, if things get dull, and so far they never have!. I will also cover 5 tactics you can use to get published. Our home is at Bay Village Lodge which is at:492 Bradley Road Bay Village, OH 44140.

Questions or concerns email me [masked] Size is limited to 125 people. If you RSVP 'yes' please show up because we reserve space . I request every one who joins us to kick in $5 as I have to pay for the space, and bring an item to share if you can.

If things are tight, come anyway. Please be considerate this keeps the venue eager to see us again next month.

Going for the first time at the new location. Bringing two guests. I'm out of the loop. Why are there two groups at the same location? One had 4 and one had 27. See you at 6!

Hi! I have learned so much in this group and enjoyed everyone's wonderful creativity! If anyone has self-published and has gone through the process of registering their own ISBN numbers, I could use a little advice. Thanks! ~Julie

If you go to www.isbn.org you will be able to purchase a number. I think the cost is $125.00. Also I think that you can buy a barcode there. If I remember accurately, if you get a barcode and it is sent to you over a computer, do not open it but send it to the publisher or printer of your book.
