The Greater Cleveland Writers Meet up Group Monthly Meetup

  • This location is shown only to members

We'll introduce new visitors, and do a quick recap of what every one is working on. Bring samples of your 'work' to share, or a question, a struggle, .... this group has a ton of experience, or at least a ton of empathy. Also, this is NOT just for children's fiction. Any writer is welcome, and genre. Sci-Fi, Fiction, Fantasy, Technical, Non-Fiction, you name it.... We will stay in the main area of books, but can also discuss freelancing to magazines, zines, blogging for fun and profit, you name it. Create a 30 second elevator speech on your work, and why some one should publish it.... and where? If you don't know what an elevator speech is, that's ok, once you join you can access an elevator speech template in our files section! Most importantly, what are you willing to do about getting published? Or what does being published mean to you. You'd be surprised how many writers never intend to make money from their writing, but just want to be published.
I'll also discuss what I find are the top 5 reasons most writers never publish, if things get dull, and so far they never have!. I will also cover 5 tactics you can use to get published.
Our home is at Vision 21 which is at: 1495 Warren Road, Lakewood, OH 44107. Questions or concerns email me [masked] Size is limited to 35 people. If you RSVP 'yes' please show up because we reserve space . I request every one who joins us to kick in $5, or bring an item to share. If things are tight, come anyway. These venues open their doors to us. Please be considerate. I know budgets are tight, but this keeps the venue eager to see us again next month.

I haven't been to a meeting in quite sometime. I've been taking some writing classes and I've started a novel and I'm interested in attending again. I've forgotten my password and I'm trying to find the date of the next meeting.

Great evening! Kathy Daquila brought us her PUBLISHED work! 11 year old Lucas read us his poetry, Diane brought us into her Grandmother's flat on trip down memory lane, Jason wowed us again, Laura showed off her cartooning inspirations for her students, Gail took to into the planet of Duplay, Kathie Dice read a rewrite dealing with the loss of a child, new member Kristen read from an opening chapter, Amber read from her book on parenting, and I know I'm missing one. Plenty of new faces, solid showing of regulars. The diversity on any given evening is delightful. See you next month.

Another creative evening of writing ideas. The Italian Grandmother piece was the most memorable for me.

Does anyone know of a legal expert who can read my soon-to-be-finished book manuscript and advise any changes that might have to be made to reduce my risk of being sued? My manuscript is a true story of a former prison inmate, and in the manuscript I've named some institutions and individuals. Responses can reach me at [masked]. Thank you.

I'm asking because I'm computer illiterate and I'm planning on buying a laptop to use for writing with the wi fi Hot spot.

I recently retired so I'm going to finally dedicate myself to writing. I was wondering what computer app is being used to write. I was planning on using Microsoft windows and a friend suggested using adobe!
