Jean Renoir's "The River"/Cinematheque/Table 45

This film was shot on location in India in 1951. It is in color and in English!

Directed by Jean Renoir (the painter’s son). Cinematography by Claude Renoir (nephew of the director and grandson of the painter). A young Satyajit Ray, perhaps the greatest Indian director, worked on this film and was greatly influenced by it. Acclaimed for it's technicolor cinematography. France/India/US.

A teenage British girl living with her upper middle class family in colonial India
experiences the pangs of first love. Jean Renoir's exotic, lyrical, and deeply
moving drama partially inspired Wes Anderson's The Darjeeling Limited. From a Rumer Godden novel.

99 min. 35mm. In English. Jean Renoir in Color!

Movie was excellent - beautiful, thoughtful, moving. My meal at Table 45 was good but no more.

Unfortunately I have a work emergency and have to cancel. This looks like a potentially beautiful movie and I might try to find it on my own, if it exists out there anywhere. Anyone have any ideas?

I can't commit at this moment so perhaps I'll just attend the movie on my own. I assume you need a firm number for Table 45?
    Can you let me know?

I looked at the resto site - the menu looks great. But no prices! (If you have to ask you can't afford it?) Saying that there are (a few?) appetizers under $20 is not very reassuring. Are the prices really that bad?

Thanks to Jim and Renu. I went to the website you link to, and confirmed that there are no prices unless I'm really incompetent. But btn the two of you, I think I have a good idea. I loved it each time we went to the Albatross, and though more expensive than most I thought it was well worth the price.

BTW, for those of you who have asked, Bernadette is recovering well. In fact, she has pushed up her return date. She will be back on August 23.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
