SYNOPSIS

The Missing Piece is a riveting, entertaining, often humorous true story of a man's struggle to find his way in the world and the mysterious motivation behind his theft in 1911 of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in Paris.

In this Indie film, Director Joe Mederios takes us on a captivating journey to Florence, Milan, Paris, and London. Through his persistence of 35 years of research and tens of thousands of miles traveled, Mederios traces the path of Vincenzo Peruggia, shedding light on the fascinating mystery of the greatest art heist in modern times that has stymied the art community the world over.

Directed and written by Joe Mederios. Filmed in Florence, Milan, Paris, London and New York.

In Italian w/English subtitles.

REVIEW

January 12, 2013

I saw this film at the San Joaquin Film festival and it blew me away. It is the most entertaining documentary I've seen. The director presents the story in such an entertaining way that I became totally interested in a story that did not interest me.

[This was an "audience review" on Rotten Tomatoes.]

There is Stand By for "The Missing Piece." Atlas Theater Eastgate. So far in the sold out film series we've been able to seat 10-12 Stand Bys as there are invariably ticket holders who don't show.
