The Selfish Giant - Cleveland Cinematheque / Mi Pueblo

Internationally, this was one of the most acclaimed movies of 2013 (it has a 96% "fresh" rating on and it won the 2013 British Independent Film Award for Best British Independent Film. The movie is a slice of working class social realism set in Northern England, about two 13-year-old best friends who go to work for a disreputable scrap metal dealer after they are expelled from school. Phenomenal performances from the entire cast ensure that The Selfish Giant (the title comes from Oscar Wilde) packs a real punch. "Devastating in its simplicity and honesty...A colossus of feeling." -The Village Voice.

Hoping for weather nice enough to walk over to Mi Pueblo after the movie.

In the world of Independent films, it is recommended that you check back a few days before the event to make sure the movie, restaurant, location or time has not changed.

The movie looked at tough issues, but I thought it was very good with some incredible acting. I came home and read about on internet to get some perspective. I think this review helps in understanding more:

Great discussion, food and margaritas after the film. Thanks Drew for organizing.

Overly brutal; I came within an inch of running out of the theater more than once. Removing glasses and closing my eyes helped buffer the shocks.
Conversation and margaritas at Mi Pueblo helped...

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
