Tim's Vermeer: Cedar Lee / Joey's

Several members have expressed an interest in this film. I am squeezing it in just before the film festival; hoping some of you are able to join me!

Tim's Vermeer

Tim Jenison, a Texas based inventor, attempts to solve one of the greatest mysteries in all art: How did 17th century Dutch master Johannes Vermeer manage to paint so photo-realistically... 150 years before the invention of photography?!  The epic research project on which Jenison embarks to test his theory is as extraordinary as what he discovers.  Spanning a decade, Jenison's adventure takes him to Delft, Holland, where Vermeer painted his masterpieces; on a pilgrimage to the north coast of Yorkshire to meet artist David Hockney; and eventually to Buckingham Palace, to see the Queen's Vermeer.

1 hour, 20 minutes

You don't even need to care about art to be entertained by this clever, swift documentary.  ~Chris Hewitt, St. Paul Pioneer Press

The conclusion is jaw dropping, the feat remarkable.  ~Laura Clifford, Reeling Reviews

3:30 p.m. MOVIE  at Cedar Lee Theatre.

I will watch for you in the lobby until shortly before the movie starts; if you don't hook up beforehand, meet me by the outside doors afterwards and we'll walk to the restaurant together.

5:00 p.m. EATS/DISCUSSION Joey's Bistro Bar Italiano, 2195 Lee Rd. 44118

If you miss us at the theater, head on over to Joey's, just a few doors down on the same side of Lee Road.

Parking: Paid Parking is now 24 X 7, so bring quarters. Credit cards work in the garage. The back half of the parking lot is only 25 cents for 60 minutes.  A free parking lot is on Edgewood road, one block west of Lee road at Cedar.

In the world of Independent films, it is recommended that you check back a few days before the event to make sure the movie, restaurant, location or time has not changed.

The $5.00 yearly fee (or $1.50 for one movie) goes toward charges incurred for using the MeetUp website. You can pay with a credit or debit card (see Member Dues box in the left panel, above) or pay in cash to the Organizer at an event.

What a fine group we had! I really enjoyed how we were all really focused on the movie, but also just naturally branched into other related topics. Glad to have Joey's as another Lee Road option.

This was my the first time that I was able to meet with the group after a movie. The movie was immensely interesting and the group was delightful. Thanks so much to everyone who came. I thoroughly enjoyed the kindness, humor, interaction, and information that was shared.

I hope everyone enjoyed it. When we were in The Hague this past November, we got to see View of Delft up close. It was amazing

the movie runs 80 minutes so we will be out by 3. I think Joey's doesn't open until 4 unless they have different hours on sundays. Any thoughts?

You are right! The website I had seen listed Joey's incorrectly as serving lunch. And I just discovered that there will be a 3:30 showing of this film! So I have decided to change to that time--Hope that works better!
