6:00 EATS

Since this is a bit of a hike for many of us, we aren't going to try to do a more unique place to eat.  It is a 5 minute drive to the college, although you will want to allow another 5-10 minutes to find the building.

Look for us near the front window - if there is room.

Tips for improving your restaurant experience:

  • Print a map or enter the address in your GPS ahead of time.
  • Bring CASH to pay for your meal.
  • When you arrive, ask to sit at the "Movie Group" table.

7:30 MOVIE

Meet at the entrance.  Look for building H, room 101.  See campus map (the campus is small).

http://lakelandcc.edu/geneinfo/Campus_Map.pdf

Address is: 7700 Clocktower Drive, Kirtland, 44094.  It is just south of Rt 306 off I-90.

DISCUSSION

Meet at the entrance afterward.  We will discuss an after-movie discussion place.

DESCRIPTION

This is a story about a young Greek boy named Fanis growing up in Istanbul, and whose grandfather, a culinary philosopher and mentor, teaches him that both food and life require a touch of spice to give them flavor. Fanis grow up to become an excellent cook, but when he returns home after 35 successful years, he realizes that he forgot to put a little spice into his own life. Guest speaker: Dr. Kyriakos Nalmpantis

REVIEW

"This handsome widescreen production about a spice-obsessed Greek professor's journey to adulthood mixes food, history and family ties very palatably and poetically."

Full review - Note that this movie received mixed reviews.  But the cost is right.

NOTE TO FIRST TIME GOERS
If this is your first movie with the group, there is no fee to attend.

This group has been successful partly because members have a genuine interest in meeting fellow independent movie goers. We don't always know where to look for you, especially first timers.  Consider printing out the pictures of the attendees to help you find them easier.

We have multiple meeting places:

  • Entrance door to the movie in the theater hallway 5-10 minutes before the movie starts
  • By the entrance door or ticket office after the movie
  • Reserved table at the restaurant under the name "Movie Group"

We don't always sit together in the movie theater but if you see a bunch of people talking about good movies they have seen, it is probably us. Please join in. We are always happy to get new people involved.

NOTE TO ALL
In the world of Independent films, it is recommended that you check back a few days before the event to make sure the movie, restaurant, location or time has not changed.
