The Intouchables: Cedar Lee / Stone Oven

Apparently, the Polisse are no longer in business so we will touch on another French film although a considerably lightly subject matter.  Intouchables is the second most seen film in France ever and topped the Box Office for 10 consecutive weeks.  Take that, Jerry Lewis.

6:00 EATS

We will start out with a quick bite to eat at the Stone Oven.

Tips for improving your restaurant experience:

  • Print a map or enter the address in your GPS ahead of time.
  • Bring CASH to pay for your meal.
  • When you arrive, ask to sit at the "Movie Group" table.

7:00 MOVIE

Meet near the entrance door to the theater 10 minutes ahead of time or look for the group inside the theater or meet us afterward not too far from the ticket purchase area.

AFTER MOVIE DISCUSSION

We will head over to the New Heights Grill, about a block south across the street (2206 Lee Road).

DESCRIPTION

The true story of a wealthy, physically disabled risk taker, the picture of established French nobility, who lost his wife in an accident and whose world is turned upside down when he hires a young, good-humored, black Muslim ex-con as his caretaker. Their bond proves the power and omniscience that love and friendship can hold over all social and economic differences.

REVIEW

"Features characters worth caring about, actors who are adept at making you feel for them and an inspirational narrative centered on meaningful, affecting human growth."

NOTE TO FIRST TIME GOERS
If this is your first movie with the group, there is no fee to attend.

This group has been successful partly because members have a genuine interest in meeting fellow independent movie goers. We don't always know where to look for you, especially first timers.  Consider posting your picture and printing out the pictures of the attendees to help find everyone easier.

We have multiple meeting places:

  • Entrance door to the movie in the theater hallway 5-10 minutes before the movie starts
  • By the entrance door or ticket office after the movie
  • Reserved table at the restaurant under the name "Movie Group"

We don't always sit together in the movie theater but if you see a bunch of people talking about good movies they have seen, it is probably us. Please join in. We are always happy to get new people involved.

NOTE TO ALL
In the world of Independent films, it is recommended that you check back a few days before the event to make sure the movie, restaurant, location or time has not changed.

This movie was really good. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Lots of funny scenes as the two opposites interact and learn to accept the other.

Excellent feel good movie, chuckling throughout. I can see why it topped the French box office, two thumbs up!

Yes, it was predictable and some of the situations were a bit far-fetched, but overall, it really was a decent film. The characters were great, it was warm and I can see why it is the biggest selling French Film in France.
