Silver Linings Playbook: Cedar Lee Theater / Stone Oven

I remember seeing this great film called "Spanking the Monkey".  Rent it some time.  Fifteen years late, David Russel's latest film Silver Linings is getting some good press as an Oscar favorite.  Please join us for another film that bucks the Hollywood trend.

6:00 EATS

Let's plan to meet in the middle tables for a quick bite to eat ahead of time.  The Stone Oven is self-service and about a 5 minute walk to the theater.

Tips for improving your restaurant experience:

  • Print a map or enter the address in your GPS ahead of time.
  • Bring CASH to pay for your meal.
  • When you arrive, ask to sit at the "Movie Group" table.

AFTER MOVIE DISCUSSION

We will walk across the street to the New Heights Grill (2206 Lee).

7:10 MOVIE

Meet near the entrance door to the theater 5 minutes ahead of time or look for the group inside the theater or meet us afterward near the marquis

DESCRIPTION

Life doesn't always go according to plan. Pat Solitano has lost everything - his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother and father after spending eight months in a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat's parents want is for him to get back on his feet. When Pat meets Tiffany, a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he'll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them..

REVIEW

"It's tiresome to hear reviewers hyping this or that funny movie as "the year's best," so I won't. But you get the idea."

NOTE TO FIRST TIME GOERS
If this is your first movie with the group, there is no fee to attend.

This group has been successful partly because members have a genuine interest in meeting fellow independent movie goers. We don't always know where to look for you, especially first timers.  Consider posting your picture and printing out the pictures of the attendees to help find everyone easier.

We have multiple meeting places:

  • Entrance door to the movie in the theater hallway 5-10 minutes before the movie starts
  • By the entrance door or ticket office after the movie
  • Reserved table at the restaurant under the name "Movie Group"

We don't always sit together in the movie theater but if you see a bunch of people talking about good movies they have seen, it is probably us. Please join in. We are always happy to get new people involved.

NOTE TO ALL
In the world of Independent films, it is recommended that you check back a few days before the event to make sure the movie, restaurant, location or time has not changed.

I really liked rooting for the characters. A rough and tumble love story without all the usual sappiness. Sometimes even movies have a silver lining.

I really connected to the characters. Not a perfect film, it fell into the Hollywood trap a few times, but there are so many good things about the movie, that all is forgiven. Go see it.
