Thought I would give you a heads up on some of the movies I saw at last CIFF. Both are on Cable now. One is on HBO and the other is running on The Sundance Channel.
Both are excellent:
The Trials of Darryl Hunt Premieres Thursday, April 26 at 8pm This award-winning documentary feature tells the story of a brutal rape/murder case and a wrongly convicted man, Darryl Hunt, who spent nearly twenty years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Premieres Thursday, April 26 at 8pm on HBO.
The other is on Sundance and it is about the world’s use of oil and is called: “A Crude Awakening: The Oil Crash.” Very sobering documentary to say the least. If you don’t get Sundance maybe it is available on NETFLIX.
Have been fighting a bout with the flu, so maybe unable to attend the next Meetup. Really enjoyed out last get together.
Declare your independence from the multiplexes and see an independent, foreign classic, documentary or any thought provoking movie. We meet at landmarks like the Cedar Lee, Cinematheque, Art Museum, or a university and work in dinner at a locally owned restaurant either before or afterward. Perhaps the best part is walking to a local pub and engaging others on the film's true meaning.
Cost to attend: $1.50 per movie or $5 for the year. Your first movie with the group is free. Fees are waived for active assistant organizers of this group or for organizers of other meetups who are funding another meetup site.
