Hi everyone,

I hope you enjoyed a great weekend again.

As you know, the Cleveland International Film festival has gained national attention as one of the best film festivals in the country. At this time of the year, they asponsor fundraisers called "Film Feasts". These events are not boring parties bur rather center around a theme (e.g. "Married to the Mob" has speakers talking about the new Mobster museum opening up in Las Vegas). I have been to a number of these including reviewing potential shorts to see at the museum, having a question answer period with film critics or listening two speakers from the Plain Dealer talking about the upcoming election.

They are not that expensive and are quite enriching. Please give some thought to attending one or more.

Coming up this Thursday is the highly anticipated "Waiting for Superman". George, who is organizing this, has nearly 20 people attending, especially amazing that we are talking about a documentary. He hopes to get 30!

I saw Superman over the weekend and it really opened my eyes up to what our public education is all about and why we don't succeed. While the movie has its targets, in the end, perhaps there is hope because no matter what your political persuasion, no one can argue that providing a good education to all children is important to our country's success.

I plan on joining everyone for the discussion afterward, which I know will be enlightening. If you want to invite anyone involved in educations (teachers, administrators), we would welcome their input.

A movie that I just don't have time to schedule is "Nowhere Boy", a story of John Lennon. If anyone has some interest in organizing this, let me know. It is supposed to be quite good.

Finally, the subject of this email is that we will be seeing "A Film Unfinished", a documentary about a recently discovered reel of tape from the Nazi era. It shows the making of a propaganda film that attempted to show the world that Warsaw was not a ghetto but a place of wealth and glamor.

I hope you can make it.

An event that just came to my attention is on Wednesday October 27 at Cleveland State (4pm). This one-hour film, narrated by Kevin Kline and Kerry Washington, examines the formation of Americas first great city parks in the late 19th century through the enigmatic eyes of Frederick Law Olmsted (1822 1903), visionary urban planner and landscape architect. http://urban.csuohio.edu/forum/events/10_27_10_Olmsted_Legacy.html

If the changes affect your plans to attend, please take a moment to update your RSVP. (You can RSVP "No" or "Maybe" as well as "Yes".)
