New Meetup: The Maltese Falcon (1941) at the Capitol Theatre

Announcing a new Meetup for Cleveland Independent Movie Goers!

What: The Maltese Falcon (1941) at the Capitol Theatre

When: Sunday, January 16,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Capitol Theatre
1390 W 65th St
Cleveland, OH 44102

It is hardly a Independent Film, but as the first Major Motion Picture to come from the Film Noir Genre and a 1989 entry (in the first induction group no less) into the Library of Congress' National Film Registry, it is a very important one and well worth seeing.

The Capital Theatre presents one classic film a month. They do it on a Sunday morning at 10am for the reasonable price of $5 and then they suggest places to go to brunch afterward.

To say the film is about a San Francisco private detective's dealings with three unscrupulous adventurers who compete to obtain a fabulous jewel-encrusted statuette of a falcon doesnt quite explain the movie.

Starring Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, Peter Lorre, Sidney Greenstreet, and Glady George its fairly "star studded", and its the directorial debut of John Huston. The film was first released in 1941.

We will be meeting at the theatre entrance at 9:55am, there is free parking right next to the theatre and across the street. Afterward we will walk to one of the many restaurants in the area for brunch.

The Capitol Theater is located at 1390 West 65th Street Cleveland, OH 44102. Its sits on the corner of West 65th and Detroit in the Gordon Square Arts District.
