Announcing a new event for Cleveland Independent Movie Goers!

What: Live In Maid: Cleveland Cinemateque / Little Italy

When: Saturday, November 24, 5:30 PM

Movie admission: USD8.00 per person

Where: Click the link below to find out!

On another note, based on your requests, we will be scheduling "No Country for Old Men" towards the end of November / very early December. We will finalize a date in the next few days.

A big thanks to Aram for suggesting and helping plan this movie.

Jim

Event Description: Don't get this mixed up with a Jennifer Lopez movie - although it is a Hispanic film.

5:30 MOVIE: The Cinemateque has its own parking lot. Meet by the entrance to the theater about 10 minutes ahead of time or look for the group inside the theater or meet us afterwards outside the theater door.

7:30: EATS AND DISCUSSION: We will be enjoying dinner at one of Little Italy's many fine restaurants. Cash is highly preferred. *** Please indicate on your RSVP if you will be attending dinner. ***

For Consideration: What changes the women's relationship more - the fact that they are getting tired of each other or is it a direct result of the financial crisis of the time?

DESCRIPTION: The relationship between a middle-aged Buenos Aires woman, Beba (Norma Aleandro of The Official Story), and her longtime, live-in maid, Dora, is adroitly explored in this acclaimed new character study. A lot has changed during the 35 years they have been employer and employee. The once-wealthy Beba, a victim of Argentina?s economic collapse, has been reduced to selling cosmetics door-to-door. She also owes Dora months of back pay. Dora, on the other hand, has gotten rich enough to consider resigning her position. But despite their shifting statuses, Beba and Dora?s relationship remains defined by class prejudices and power codes, as well as a foundation of mutual love.

REVIEW: "If you care about the art of movie acting, run to the Charles to see Norma Aleandro bring tragicomic stature to the role of a haute bourgeois Buenos Aires woman fallen on hard times in Live-In Maid." http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/movies/reviews/bal-to.maid21sep21,0,441864.story

NOTE TO FIRST TIME GOERS: This group has been successful partly because members have a genuine interest in meeting fellow independent movie goers. We don't always know where to look for you, especially first timers, which is why I offer multiple meeting points (e.g. under the marquis, in the theater, reserved table at dinner). If you see a group of people talking about good movies they have seen, they are most likely a part of our group. Please join in. We are always happy to get new people involved. Feel free to send an email letting us know you are coming.

NOTE TO ALL: In the world of Independent films, it is recommended that you check back a few days before the event to make sure the movie, restaurant, location or time has not changed.
