I hope your holidays are doing well. I think the 20 people who attended last week's Meetup with Fred Thorton are still marveling how nice that event was. The move was quite good period, not considering that it was made with half a shoestring. The characters were believable and I understand why it won the audience award by the American Film Institute. Fred was affable and had great stories to share about his experiences on the film. And he is only 25!!!!. This is our third very successful meeting with directors and producers and we are going to do more. But there is a cost..
This covers the cost to run the website as well as expenses related to covering the producer's meals. So please be sure to pay up now for 2012. The cost, payable now, is $5. Certainly the enjoyment of the group is worth that small amount. Organizers (who i sometimes treat to a free movie because they do so much) are exampt.
There is a Paypal link in the lefthand column or you can pay the event's organizer.
This Sunday, the art museum is showing a European thriller. Why not get out of the shopping doldrums and enjoy an afternoon out. We will be eating at Indian Flame, a great restaurant that is reasonable. Festivities begin at 3:30.
Then, next Thursday, we will be seeing either Margin Call or Young Adult at the Cedar Lee. I would prefer MC but the Cedar Lee doesn't have their sit updated as of yet. So, feel free to sign up now and we will determine which movie once we get closer. It begins at 3pm
Finally, we will be seeing Suzhou River, an acclaimed Chinese film. Knowing that many of you may not be working that week, the movie is on Wednesday at 1:30PM. We will meet for lunch ahead of time and then finish it up with a simple discussion afterward. I would also recommend doing the exhibit too since the museum is open late that day and you can make it a Chinese day.

Finally, have any of you noticed the new Cedar Lee website? For me, it is very difficult to navigate and to figure out which movies are coming up and when. We used to be provided a listing of each theater and when certain movies were coming by week. If any of you feel so inclined, drop an email to the theater asking for them to bring back this feature. Be sure to mention that you will be less inclined to attend movies there if you can't easily discern when the movies are coming. Note: the information is there, it is just very cumbersome.
After reviewing the "Coming Soon" cumbersome tab, select "Marketing and Promotions" at
As always, it is great to know so many movie folks. Talk with you soon.
