Hi everyone,
Once again, the Cinematheque must have read my mind as they are doing a retrospective on filmmaker Asghar Farhadi.  In addition to his Oscar-winning "A Separation", he has made 4 other films.  Interestingly, none are on Netflicks and as a matter of fact, other than New York, only Cleveland will have shown all of his films by end of May.  Our group is scheduled to see a few but if you would like to organize one of his other films, let me know.  Here is when they are showing.
  • Dancing in the Dust - May 3,6
  • Fireworks Wednesday - May 18 - Lynda is organizing this
  • About Elly - May 25 (at the Art Museum)
  • A Separation - June 1,2
The group will be seeing "A Beautiful City" on Sunday, May 13 at 6:30 PM.  It follows the story of a 16 year old who is accused of murder and who is dependent on an ex-con who has information that could prove his innocence.  Should be a great film to see.
You still have  a few hours before "We Have a Pope" at 4:45 this afternoon.  This Italian film has plenty of heart and humor.
Tuesday, join the group to see "Footnote", which itself might have won the best picture if "A Separation" wasn't in the running.  If you plan to have dinner with us at Dewey's, be sure to arrive on time with cash in hand.
While I appreciate all the people who help organize events, I am always looking for others to lead an event.  It is really quite easy and you get to pick the movie, time, place and eats place too.  If you would like to help out, please let me know.  Granted, the perks are limited (perhaps a free movie from time to time), but you would really be helping everyone out.
Please give this consideration.
If you have already paid, thank you very much and no need to look further.
Otherwise, your dues of $5.00 are very important in  order for us to host directors coming into town and pay for the website.  Please select the link or pay your organizer AT THE NEXT GROUP EVENT if you haven't already.
