Hello everyone

Welcome to the following new members

Sunday is the Oscars. Perhaps the unthinkable may happen and the best picture will be an independent film. I don't think that a film with all unknown actors (to Americans), with almost half the film in a foreign language, not produced by Hollywood, does not have any American characters (outside a historical epic) has ever made it to the top 5 let alone the top movie of the year.

Feel free to join us Sunday at Guarinos (after Lawrence of Arabia) to talk about them, but remember to RSVP.

Several events are coming up this week. In Akron, you can preview the Cleveland Film Festival this Thursday. A Cleveland preview will be scheduled in March.

If you are CFS member, you can view the films to be shown this year. It will be available to others soon. Keep your calendars open March 19-29.

As we continue down our trek of good movies, "The Class" was rated number 2 of 2008. If it was in English, perhaps it would have been nominated for a best picture. I feel sorry for the vast majority of the public who will never hear of this film because once again, it was not produced by Hollywood. I am inviting the cross-cultural group to attend.

What: The Class: Cedar Lee Theater / Tree Country Bistro

When: March 8,[masked]:00 PM

Fee: $1.50 or $5 for 2009.
