The group saw some good movies this past week with many interesting ones scheduled for the rest of the month.
You Can’t Take it With You directed by Frank Capra was a good pick to see outdoors under the stars. It was lighthearted and fun but the highlight for us was to share Baby Arielle Simler’s first movie meetup. We think she enjoyed it…even while sleeping through most of it.
Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine is definitely recommended. Cate Blanchett’s performance was screaming for an oscar nomination. We had a great time at Nighttown. Thanks to Susan for a wonderful evening.
The Butler is actually getting very decent reviews. It is about the civil rights movement seen through the eyes of a butler while serving on the White House staff under seven presidents.
Scheduled Sunday (tonight) at the Capitol.
Blackfish is a documentary about whales in captivity and the affect it has on their psyche.
Scheduled Friday, Aug. 23rd.
French Cancan evokes impressionism in its depiction of the cancan. Directed by the painter’s son, Jean Renoir.
Scheduled Sunday, Aug. 25th.
Museum Hours is an ode to the bonds of friendship, an exploration of an unseen Vienna, and the power of art to both mirror and alter our lives.
