In Cleveland, we are very fortunate to have 3 theaters that focus on Independent films: Cedar Lee, Art Museum and Cinemateque. Of course, they are all on the near east side and make it a longer trip for west and south siders to attend. Starting Friday, this will change with the opening of the Capitol Theater at West 65th and Detroit. Although it really is only a 20 minute drive from these other theaters, I guess it must be really far since you of have to cross the Cuyahoga :-).
It is not clear how "Independent" the theater will be, but even if they show "semi- independent" films (e.g. Slumdog or Juno), we will include this theater in our rotation when possible. One of its real positives is the number of restaurants in the area within walking distance.
If anyone wants to be a coordinator for events at the Capitol, let me know.http://www.clevelandcinemas.com/cinemadrilldown.asp?intCin=2941
