6th Anniversary Picnic

Join us in celebration of 6 years of Cleveland Freethinkerdom (and the arrival of May flowers) at North Chagrin Reservation.

We've reserved the Oak Shelter at River Grove Picnic Area- although it's an open-sided shelter (2 sides), we'll be prepared whether it's rainy and 58 degrees or sunny and 85 degrees. If it turns out to be cool, there is a good-sized fireplace and bins stocked with firewood. if it's warm and lovely out, there is plenty of space for outdoor activities; a huge field, volleyball courts, even a ball diamond. The shelter also has plenty of electrical outlets (musicians- bring your instruments?).

As with picnics in the past, we'll be doing it potluck style so bring something to share. We'll be supplying grillables, both disc-shaped and tubular (regular and veggie) along with buns & all the condiments. Others can bring side dishes, snacks, desserts, drinks or anything else- it's all good! Alcohol is allowed on the premises, but must be consumed with the shelter area and in plastic cups only.

May the weather be wonderful, and see you there! :)

    Thanks for great event.
It's impossible to get my parents in photos. If anyone has any photos that include my parents, please send them to me. Appreciate it!

Very fun meetup. Sorry I missed the karaoke. Thanks, Mark & Marni for hosting another great picnic. Very nice pavilion, esp with the fireplaces. That amphitheater has potential too in warmer weather!

wish I had been able to get there earlier, as I missed out spending time with so many that were leaving soon after I arrived! The food was wonderful, the conversations pleasant, fun and diverse. I truly enjoyed the karaoke at the end, even though my camera ran out of space!! Looking forward to the next one!

Wonderful ! Wish it wasn't so cold. My fruit didn't go over real well because it was cold.

Weather not so great. Mark and Marni didn't pray hard enough. No kids for my kids to play with :( But a good time nonetheless, good to see people!

Well, since the weather was kind of iffy, I thought we'd try appealing to one of the other 3,000+ deities next time around!

We had a great time. Giddy thanks all of the great ball throwers and hopes your arms aren't too sore.

Wish I could have been there, but just returned from my mom's place (out of state) tonight. The fire made it look cozy and the karaoke would have been great fun.

Had a good time, despite the weather. Ate so much thought I might explode., I'm surprised that I didn't gain 100 lbs. As always Mark's burgers were phenomenal. The Tiborskys always do a good job of arranging a good meetup. Enjoyed Morgan's helicopter and the karaoke was entertaining. We could have another Britney Spears in Marni. Stay tuned.

For the weather that we had, picnic was optimal.

Good turnout on such a cool day- thanks to Adrian for getting the fires started so quickly! Thank you all for pitching in to make it a fine anniversary picnic. A smaller crew lingered well into the evening- we finally got some karaoke going around 7pm. Janelle's version of "Across the Universe" was transcendent! :)

The radar is clear! Just wear layers, since it will be high 40s/low 50s midday, before the high is reached in the evening.

Sorry for the last minute cancellation...flight was delayed and didn't get home until 2:30 this morning. I'm a little bit jet lagged and not quite up to it. Have fun, and hope to see you at all at a future meetup.

I drove to the picnic shelter today. The River Grove Picnic Area is across from the sledding hill on River Rd, a nearby street, as reference, is Rogers Rd. The Oak Shelter is the one in the back (there are two other more house-like shelters in the front). Not hard to find.

Weather forecast as of Thursday AM- not stellar, but not sucky either. Partly sunny, high in the lower 60's but with a chance of showers during the course of the day. The shelterhouse is only open on 2 sides, so we will stay dry and it should be glorious :) We'll use that big fireplace if we have to.

I can bring nonalcoholic beer with me so that those who cannot drink (like me) can at least feel like it's a true picnic. Neither my husband nor I have time or energy to cook anything, but we could bring a jar or two of these roasted peppers that are really yummy that we've found at BJ's. In any case, we're looking forward to being around so many great people.
