Speak with Rafiq

  • September 11, 2013 · 9:00 PM

This is an online Google Hangout meeting with our old friend (and fellow Cleveland Freethinker) Rafiq Mahmood from Bogor Indonesia. A natural raconteur, Rafiq always provides interesting perspectives on world events. Even if you don't have a web cam you can listen in and type in the chat window. His web blog is at: http://a-long-night.blogspot.com/2010/03/copyright-rafiq-mahmood-2010.html

Fun, and excellent discussion! So good to chat with Rafiq again. Google Hangout worked GREAT- no glitches. Looking forward to the next one! :)

I am very sorry you couldn't join us, Valerie. I rather suspect it would have been even livelier if you had! :-) We promised each other that it would be a more regular event so I eagerly look forward to meeting you next time.

It was GREAT! Rafiq gave me a glimpse into a world I know little about. Also, the views of the other participants was...well, I just don't get to listen and ask questions of others much. My job is rather solitary, and except for my daughter I think my family doesn't want to hear or discuss any other views than the ones they have.

Sorry, the coffee shops closed at 10, and when I got home, my connection wasn't working. :(

    Marvellous. Great to be back.

It was good to meet again. Google hangout works very well. The time flew by.

How do we get on the Google chat?

    September 11, 2013

  • Valerie

I'm going to try to tune in, but I've been having Internet connection problems at home... maybe I'll hang out at a coffee shop for at least the first hour.

I know this is a crazy question, but I went to the site to see what to do so I can listen, but I don't know which of the "choices" will allow me to listen to you. I'm really really new at this.

Thank you so much, the part of this that went right into my eyes was "needs a location". I sometimes have trouble reading things thoroughly once I think I've gathered the 'seeming' information, which I should have skipped over. My bad. Thanks for setting me straight. [This should be interesting a 'chat thing' before]

    September 11, 2013

  • Rafiq M.

The location, Rosalie, is your sitting room. It is a Google hangout. I do hope you can join in!

    September 10, 2013

  • Rosalie

    Do we have a location?

    September 10, 2013

  • Rafiq M.

That sounds a good topic to get us started, Ray.

Since Mark and Lisa won't be able to make it until later, should we change the start time to 10pm? Bring your own matchsticks and espressos, of course.

I'll be tuning in late, as the CFINO meeting goes 'til 9.

One topic that I know interests us both is the idea of the personality types of leaders. Recently I've listed to audio books on Steve Jobs and L. Ron Hoover. The parallels of certain personality traits is striking.

I will join you all around 10pm, hope I don't miss hearing Ray sing! It's nice to be able to have on line meet-ups! :)

  • Rafiq M.

Now you've done it Ray! Natural raconteur indeed. I think I am going to have to make you work for this. Probably I am going to make you sing or something.

The web address will be posted here on the night of the event.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
