Group Arts Day

Do you paint? Draw? Play an instrument or sing? Write and record music? Make videos or short films, or do computer art? Write poetry? Do any sort of crafts or textile arts? Do interpretive dance? Sculpt? Write literature? Do any type of performing arts? Culinary arts? Invent things?

"The arts represent an outlet of human expression, usually influenced by culture, and driven by human creative impulse."

Whether you do some sort of art or are simply one who appreciates the arts, please join us for our 1st annual Randall Tiedman Memorial Group Arts Day at Independence Library. We have the big room reserved there so we should have plenty of space to do our thing.

There will be a signup sheet forthcoming for those who'd like to reserve a time slot to talk about their art, play a tune, show a video or short film, etc., etc. For the time being, if you want to be assured of a slot email Mark Tiborsky at [masked].

We'll have tables set up around the perimeter of the room for art display; however, those with larger paintings or drawings, etc will have to supply their own display stands. For music performance: we'll have to keep it more or less "acoustic". If any instrumentalists would like to perform a tune with a backing musician or 2, email Mark T. at the address above and we'll do our best to arrange for that.

There is a small kitchen off to the side of the room, so we can bring snacks & refreshments. If anyone would like to contribute snacks (especially the culinary artistes) please feel free to do so! :)

Note: as this is a public library we are not allowed to sell anything on the premises. As far as we know, monetary transactions in the form of donations are allowed, but we'll make sure beforehand.

Let the creativity flow... see you there! :)

We dedicate this meetup to a great artist and Cleveland Freethinkers member, the late Randall Tiedman:

Was nice. Everyone is so talented. And, as usual, dinner was great.

We had a great time. I wish we'd know about Rae's "white art" a year ago before we'd bought something (wall art) for our master bath. A large wall with a skylight - the light and shadows would totally lend itself to that kind of art!

Here is the info about the Akron Art Prize:

I hope some of our artists will consider entering in 2015. Everyone is so talented! It would be wonderful if our group could go together to the Akron Art Walk in Sept or Oct in 2015 and see those CFT artists' entries that were selected for the contest installed in the galleries.

Thanks to all who attended and all who contributed! And a huge thanks to Susan Tiedman for sharing much-missed member Randall Tiedman's wonderful art. We had a good selection of different types of artistry at this first Group Arts Day! Sorry we had to cut a few presentations short - my fault for not scheduling out the afternoon out beforehand. The next Arts Day will be a bit more streamlined w/browsing time in the middle. Dinner at Aladdin's was fun, and a bunch of us got Starbucks afterwards and had great conversation long into the evening.

Are we doing early-ish dinner after the art stuff? Like at Alladin's Independence or Oak Barrel Valley View?

Up-date... I want to thank everyone for sharing and supporting one another. I will not be able to make our
Group Art Day meet-up! :(. It happened to be the same day as my youngest Grandson Owen's 1st. Birthday! I will really miss you all, but want to ask the ones of you that are presenting if it would be ok if Ray V. videos you? If not please let him know, plus he will ask first, so I may watch it later. I will have my cards, books for show only and info on how to purchase if you might be interested. I have been friends with Randall for many years. Susan his wife will be attending and will share with our CFT members, she is honored to be attending. Have a wonderful day! Love Lisa

Tentative - if weather is good we might be hiking! We have no art to contribute but I might bring a snack. Maybe something simple like a cheese plate and some crackers.

tentative; depends on work schedule. But, sadly, I am one of those few afflicted with bring talent impaired. But I'd love to see what others can do.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
