Lake View Cemetery Walking Tour and Lunch Afterwards

We had such a great time at our tour in November 2012 that we're doing it again! The weather should be great, but we'll plan on touring no matter what.

Lunch will be at BD's Mongolian BBQ in Coventry after the tour. We'll have a reservation.

Lake View Cemetery

The tour is about 1 1/2 hours, and please be prepared to walk for the entire time. No wheelchairs are allowed, as we walk on the grass and up hills, etc. We will meet at the Garfield Monument (everyone parks their cars along the side of the streets there), and will make stops inside both the Wade Chapel and the Garfield Monument for two docent-led presentations.

There is no cost for the privately scheduled walking tours; however, a suggested donation of $3.00 per person to The Lake View Cemetery Foundation is appreciated.

Looks like the tour went great and the weather perfect! Mongolioan BBQ lunch was good! Sorbet and fresh fruit dessert was refreshing and then coffee and hanging out on Coventry was the best! It was nice for me to be right down the street from where we lived for 18 years...beautiful area with friendly people!

Nice day for a stroll through the cemetery. Too much stair climbing in the Garfield monument. Lunch (Linner?) was good. But they're a tad pricey, maybe? Next time I want to try their soup and salad bar instead. Then we went for frozen yogurt. That was good too. I like these meetups where we go for food after. Even when we go out to eat, we go out to eat after. But today was nonstop. What could be better?

Nice day, nice group of freethinkers, and the tour was cool! It turned into one of those 7-hour meetups for some of us, as we went to BD's/then for frozen yogurt/then for coffee after Lake View. It was a pleasure to meet Debbie, Ken and Donna!

Yay, looks like they've taken rain out of the forecast! :) Please check the map- as Marni indicated, the pointer is now accurate for the location of the Mayfield Rd. entrance (near 2606 Mayfield Rd., Cleveland Heights), which is closest to the Garfield monument. There is also an entrance off of Euclid Avenue. My cell is[masked], Marni is[masked]

Is this at Dennison Park (Monticello Blvd, Cleve Hts) as directed on the posted map? Or at 12316 Euclid Ave, Cleve?

    May 17, 2013

    • Mark T.

The best entrance is off Mayfield Rd (US 322) very close to the intersection of Mayfield & Coventry. Ignore the map for now, it needs a serious edit! I can't do it from my mobile device at the moment...

      The map has been updated.

Everyone, please be as punctual as you can. We'd like to start as close to 11:30 as possible, and we don't want to keep Mary waiting!

I will join you at Mongolian BBQ. About 1:30pm?

Suzy, you're more than welcome to :) - otherwise, I will call tomorrow. We'll do the reso for between 15 and 20. They'll probably put us upstairs, like they've done in the past.

Have fun visiting with your son - we'll miss you :)

Please remember to bring some cash, as they politely suggest a $3.00 donation to the Lake View Cemetery Foundation. It is tax-deductible and totally worth it - otherwise, we wouldn't be able to do this! These donations keep the grounds beautiful, everything well-manicured and inviting, keep the place historic and preserved as much as naturally possible, and allow for docents to be available to answer questions and lead these tours. It really is a wonderful thing :)

Donations are taken inside the Garfield Monument. We need to make sure everyone does this before leaving the cemetery for lunch.
