Re: [humanism-174] KUDO TO BILL NYE!!

I was listening to 103.3 today, which is a religious channel. I like to hear what gobbly gook they have to say sometimes. But today they were critiquing the Bill Nye interview. And it was exactly what you would expect. The same old and tired creationist arguments. You know, You gotta have faith to believe in evolution. Or the tried and true no intermediate fossils in macro-evolution. I had to change it after 20 min. I couldn't take it anymore.

Scenes I'd love to see... a big bunch of nuns storming the Vatican, with the archbishops in their silly hats & the pope running around all scared; then the nuns all quit the church on the spot :)

I was going off your last sentence, Tim and was trying to find the site where I read an article about how (something like) 60% of nuns are over the age of 60 or 70.  I couldn't find it, but eventually, the "delusions" will fade away.  Even if it is not in our lifetime, it will fade eventually.

I did (in trying to find that site) come across this and found it very interesting.

Anytime one points out to delusional people that their beliefs are in fact delusional, the only defense they can mount is to attack the person doing the pointing out.

Nobody wants to be seen as a fool. Worse, nobody wants to have to face one's own foolishness.  Admitting that you have been scammed and made a fool is tough business! This is one reason perhaps for the longevity of religious delusions!
