Re: [humanism-174] What If Trayvon Had Died In A Drone Strike? - YouTube

Oh my,    what an interesting discussion this has turned into!     After a careful reading of it all,  the one thing that’s very clear is how thoroughly everyone’s views are colored according to the political party  we claim.   This is all so excellent  for the people who own those parties!    We have gotten ourselves divided into so many factions fighting against each other,  that hardly anyone notices the afflictions being dealt to us all.     Does anyone ever notice that no matter which party has more power,  the wealth keeps on flowing from those who earn it,  toward those who know best how to take and keep it?     ......I only wish I posessed the brains/ knowledge/ energy/  whatevernecessary,  to help people understand this better.    I just like to try doing it anyway.     About the problems with political parties -  they were explained in awesome style and accuracy quite a long time ago.    (   http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/washing.asp)   But then we don’t have to go that far back to get good advice.    It was only 6 or eight years ago  when the smart, ethical economists  were warning about the bursting of the housing bubble,  and telling exactly how to protect ourselves and even profit from it.   Those same people who made the accurate predictions for us back then are making more serious predictions and giving more serious advice now.    I guess it doesn’t make any sense for most of us to pay any attention to them though.   It’s probably too late anyway.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Rus

Obama did indeed frame the Libya event as "acts of terror" on 9/12 and again as "act of terror" on 9/13:

http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/17/politics/fact-check-terror/index.html?c=&page=1

As for continuing to "blame it flatly" on the video (the Libya event specifically), you'll have to provide us with some evidence for that. Meanwhile, on the very same day (9/11) there were protests in Tunisia and Egypt that WERE apparently about that damned video... and in the week following, more in other Islamic nations including Indonesia. The unrest led to several leaders of Islamic nations proclaiming that blasphemy should be made illegal worldwide. So as I stated earlier, negative references to the video can be seen as diplomatic action to help quell any further violence.

The prior calls for extra security... apparently they did occur, but most specifically for Tripoli on 9/11 as opposed to Benghazi which is 400 miles distant.

Glen, the main reason the MSM isn't saying much about it is precisely because the "rightwingosphere" is busy manufacturing a "scandal" where there is no indication of one. The only indications are that there was some miscommunication between govt entities shortly after the attack, that the govt was very cautious about pointing the finger at the perpetrators, and that the entire tragedy could have been handled better.

I'll go out on a limb here... Obama is going to be re-elected, and the Democrats will not only hold on to their Senate majority, but perhaps gain one or two seats. The conservative pundits and their followers know this, and this manufactured "scandal" is one last "Hail Mary" before the election. After Obama's re-election, the still GOP-led House of Representatives will call for additional "investigations" into the Libya incident, which will achieve the same thing as this current right-wing "frenzy" will achieve... it'll keep conservatives reaching for the Rolaids & Immodium AD! :)

If the RIGHT thinks that Barney the dinosaur is Lavender and say so in a speech, but the LEFT says Barney is Purple in a speech, you now have the left and right at each other's throats and each are lying or exaggerating.

So, with that being said, I believe Obama said, "acts of terror" and not a "terrorist attack".  There ya go....two shades of the same color.....

Everyone has their opinion on what is right or wrong.  Everyone is going to BELIEVE what is right or wrong (according to their party affiliation).

What we read on the internet is one thing.  What ACTUALLY happened is another.  No one knows the truth about ANYTHING (not just politics) unless it is video-taped or audio-taped.  No; can't have pictures either - they can be photo-shopped.  What a trusting nation! :)

P.S.Obama's claim during the debate that he declared the Benghazi attack a terrorist attack only raises more troubling questions. First, it is unclear whether he was referring to the Benghazi attack, or 911, or terrorism in general when he said "terrorism will not stand."  But if he really did mean to say Benghazi was a terrorist attack when he spoke in the Rose Garden, it further begs the question of why he, Biden, Hillary, Rice, and others in his administration blamed it flatly on a spontaneous video protest for two weeks afterward - even during his speech to the UN. Since then, a number of government officials have acknowledged that it was not a spontaneous protest event, but a planned terrorist attack, and that they knew this not only on day one, but even _while the attack was going on!_. So something does not add up, even aside from the questions of why more security wasn't provided in the first place, and why nothing was done while the 7 hr attack
raged, even when help was pleaded for, with military resources were nearby.  They sent drones to record the event, which they did, but no personnel, planes, or other resources to help --not even a fighter jet, which alone could have scattered the attackers.  Woods had the attackers even had the terrorists "lighted" with lasers, so there was every opportunity to hit them swiftly and with precision. And as far as Panetta's claim that they had insufficient intelligence, not only has this shown to be false, but for crying out loud, this is what our millitary DOES!! - moves quickly to defend and protect fellow Americans, whether soldiers or civilians, in danger or under attack.  It certainly looks like heroic Americans were needlessly left to die as "stand down" orders were given, and among the many questions is, who gave the orders, and why.
