Re: [humanism-174] how would you reply?

If this insulting little moron continued to email me after my last reply, I would delete him from my host of friends and end with a "screw you and your imaginary god."
And it's not so much a copout on God's part as it is a copout on the part of the believer.  Faith without evidence is just wishful thinking.  But this level of proselytizing is somewhere between age 10 and age 12 Sunday School.

His reply:

Letting go to believe in God requires faith. Faith is a divine gift. If you ask God for faith to believe, I assure you He will give you faith but belief (you to act) is a whole other ballpark. It requires you to trust in what you do not see.

Mine:

No, that's a cop put on god's part.  If he's interested I'm sure he knows where to find me.

While your friend's first message was meaningless religious fluff, the 2nd one crossed over to insulting territory. Maybe time to nuke his god! :)

Perhaps a rephrasing of Tim's sentiment-

"___, I have no need for a nonexistent Celestial Santa to get me through the tough things in life which we all must eventually face."

My reply.
I'm guessing in 44 years if he wanted to he would have. Especially during those times when I was going to church every Sunday for years.  Until he does I'm content to believe the things I have reason to believe.
