"I don't consider myself a skeptic"
I figured that out long ago.

Mike:

I don't consider myself a skeptic.  Postmodernism can be nihilistic if
you take it that way, I don't.  Right now I have anchors to this reality,
I currently experience.  Once those anchors are gone my perspective
may change.  I just want to know if there is an objective reality, and if
there is, what it is.

It has impacted my life.  I ask questions I would never have thought to
ask.

Postmodernism appears to be another name for epistemological nihilism.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihilism
While I agree that I cannot know for certain that I have a job and will go to this job on Monday morning, nevertheless, I believe that I do and will act as if I do.  Perhaps, reality is a Matrix world that is unreal, a software construct downloaded into our brains.  But, how would having such a belief impact one's life?  This sort of nihilism that denies objective reality would lead to some interesting behavior and outcomes.  Holding such a POV would have low survival value. But, in a Matrix world, what difference would it make?
