Be careful what you wish for, Tim.  If atheism isn't a religion, then it isn't protected by the First Amendment.  The way these fundies twist everything, there's just no sense in helping them.

To call atheism or stalinism or any ism that does not include a supernatural component a religion is (imo) to stretch the definition of religion a tad too far!  I personally do not consider atheism to be a religion. I do resist efforts to invent atheist churches etc.
Besides, good rule of thumb: no funny hats, it's not a religion! lol
