Religious beliefs trump science, evidence, and reality. If it contradicts the magic book it is the science that must be wrong. They're not stupid (at least not all) but they ARE completely delusional!

Or...imagine a city without traffic.  No traffic, no need for traffic control.  They evolved linearly with each other...which also happens with more complex interactions in nature.
The people who come up with these arguments are just friggin hopeless.  They are either incapable or unwilling to see the bigger picture or they are so desperate that they'll say any bit of trash that comes to mind.

An even more lame question some YECs ask is "What good is half an eye?"  Well, if it helps you see at all, a lot of good!  In fact, among living creatures we can fine every degree of sight from light sensitive cells that just discern light or dark, to sophisticated vision, and everything in between. And while human vision is wonderful, most birds can see farther, other animals can see in other wavelengths, etc. Some YECs also ask, "why would a creature develop fins from legs?"  Hello! There are creatures alive today with intermediate appendages, such as seals and walruses, and others with webbed appendages.  Whale fore fins were clearly evolved from legs, and some modern whales are born with vestigial hind legs.
Perhaps the most glaring example fallaceous reasoning about the intermediate forms being supposedly useless or impossible nature comes from Creationist Geoffery Simmons, a medical doctor.  In his book _Billions of Missing Links_ he writes on p. 137, "Picture a hospital functioning without beds, medications, nurses, or doctors. It can't happen. Every piece of this system is needed."
SAY WHAT???  So a hospital could not function if it had more doctors and fewer nurses, or vise versa, or all doctors or all nurses?  Or less equipment or medicine? The man is refuting his own argument, and doesn't even realize it. In fact many hospitals did evolve --from small clinics to the high-tech complexes seen today.  His entire book is filled with simlar illogic.  For example, in another place he writes "Imagine a city without traffic control. In a like manner every living function depends on other, equally complex functions. Most, if not all, are too incredible to have happend by mere survival of the fittest or unidirectional accidents."  Of course, even if there were no cities without traffic control (and of course they do exist) doesn't mean they could not exist without traffic control, or many other functions being reduced or ansent. I can only wonder how a man like this can get a medical degree? I'd wouldn't let him treat me for a paper cut.
