Re: [humanism-174] "Ahlquist banner" reappears in secular version

Reading the comments, I was struck by how ignorant, intolerant, and basically stupid so many of the self-proclaimed Christians really are.  I've been criticized here and elsewhere for being mean to these deluded shitheads, but then I see how they think and what they think thy know, and I may just be too NICE when referring to them!  Scientifically ignorant, historically ignorant, and oblivious to the world around them--except when something occurs that SEEMS to coincide with three thousand year old prophecies that in reality had nothing to do with their precious magic Jesus.

And do not think that these people would not tie us to stakes and burn us to a crisp in a half a heartbeat of they were ever allowed to do this AGAIN!  Islam is a gutter religion making headlines for its intolerance and violence, but the Muslims learned their murderous craft from the true masters of torture: Christianity!

Ok, that is MY rant for the day! lol

I forgot to include a link- It's from The Blaze, the story is fine but dumb comments are virtually guaranteed! :)

An awful lot to read in what is basically supposed to be an inspiring banner for high school kids!

Could be shortened to:

"Strive to be your best; respect others!"

I have no doubt that this secular version actually articulates a better, more inclusive set of values than did the banner it replaces.

Subject: [humanism-174] "Ahlquist banner" reappears in secular version

Young Jessica Ahlquist bravely stood up to hostile Christianites in her high-profile, successful lawsuit in which a prayer banner at her high school was ruled to be unconstitutional. The banner was immediately taken down after the verdict.
Jessica was not invited to the dedication- but a secular replacement was just put up at the high school (in Cranston, RI). It is quite nice, I think, without any appeal to that "Heavenly Father" thingee!
