Conrad, as for trying to get non-theists elected it would definitely have to start at the state level. But as Sam noted, this PAC will "support candidates regardless of faith who support secular ideals."

2 or 3 years ago, a grassroots "National Atheist Party" was instituted- it didn't really catch on, and then after some sort of internal kerfuffle they renamed themselves the "National Secular Party" (or something similar).

He did say he would support any candidate who stood for secular values. I can go with that. No candidate will have 100% the same views of anyone.

It's the next logical step- Roy Speckhardt has helped to launch a PAC called the Freethought Equality Fund.

It's not the first one- there was a "Godless PAC" a few years ago, former U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) tried to schmear her Democratic opponent with ties to it (Dole lost :). But things are changing- secularist orgs such as the Secular Coalition for America are now having meetings with the offices of high-ranking U.S. officials, and maybe the time has come for a PAC like this to actually have a bit of influence.
