Maybe she will come around someday. I just get irritated that people can post anti-atheist bigotry like its the norm. But the second they are called on it you become the attacker.

Sometimes no matter how it is done, the other person makes assumptions and it ends up damaging or ending the relationship. In my experience, it seems that many believers never look on you the same way again -- concluding that you have gone over to the "dark side", or perhaps are going through a "phase". So they often shun or distance themselves from you, or alternatively, try bring you back into the fold, fearing that your soul is in mortal danger.   Fortunately not everyone reacts that way, and non-belief seems to be gaining a little better acceptance in recent years. But sadly, many polls show still that atheists are the most despised minority in America.
