RE: [humanism-174] Ronald Reagan

What about Afghanistan? The U.S. is spending billions of dollars of OUR tax $$$ to “eradicate” opium poppies. Yeah yeah, I know… the drug trade is funding terror, blah-blah-blah. But they’re FLOWERS for (Deity name here) sake! We’re paying Dyncorp handsomely for this.

I will agree with you in part. The War on Drugs isn't only a reason to dump tons of Round Up on South American countries, but keep in mind that their governments are allowing it. They aren't saying that it's not allowed, or keeping the US planes out of the airspace. The problem is that their "leaders" and our "leaders" are friends for the most part, aside Hugo Chavez.

The war on drugs is just another fundraiser for the fedgov to enslave us. They ship the drugs in, they sell them in their monopoly, and imprison citizens for their mess.

Ok, this is a confession. I was way out of diapers during the Reagan administration, however, I do not recall ever attributing the fall of the USSR to him. I rather had the impression that they felled themselves and that the Berlin wall dismantling was a PR opportunity for Reagan.I know I didn't vote for him, but, I don't recall ever hating him as a president.

Oh yes and the fall of USSR domination of eastern Europe was an awfully fantastic Pink Floyd opportunity as well!

I DO remember the war on drugs campaign, although by that time, it didn't much apply to me personally (anymore) but I do remember sensing a discontent among my friends and do remember thinking, "WHAT? You mean you can't just sit on a picnic table in the Metroparks and indulge without getting arrested???" I thought that was ridiculous. And I think our "war on drugs" is just another excuse to manipulate south american countries' administrations.
