RE: [humanism-174] Why I am atheistic-long

Maude and Michael,

“Spilling my soul” was definitely harder to do than I had thought. I began to question my beliefs, then re-affirmed them… almost got emotional along the way.

I could probably do a “long” version too, but it might end up being my same 5 or 6 points, expanded.

Mark

Thank you, Maude, for I really enjoyed reading this.  It also gave me an idea.

Why thank you Michael! I felt I was babbling and I even went back and edited!

If everyone is willing, why don't we all write our own versions of this statement- Why I am..., explaining things as Maude has done, and present it to each other at the meeting on Tuesday.  I would very much like to hear each person express their beliefs, but I like having a face to go along with those ideas.  It gives me a better sense of where someone is coming from when I can see them and interact with them as they explain their perspectives and belifes.

I think this would be fun-although we might be there a long time! I also understand that it might be difficult for some, like Mark said it was difficult for him. Also I wonder if it might be easier for some to meet the other members first before spilling their "soul." I personally, don't know if I would have been so forthcoming and honest had I not already met several of you.
