Blender Basics!

An introduction to the open source 3D software Blender. We'll go over interface basics (there are a lot of customization options) simple box modeling, uv/texture mapping, select modifiers, simple keyframe animation and design tips/resources. We should have quite a few game assets by the end!

I think the scope was a little big for the allotted time, and the pacing a little fast. Stephanie (and others) did a good job of answering questions, but I think it might have been more beneficial to focus on teaching people what questions they may even have to ask. Overall, it was somewhat helpful for me; being able to ask questions live is fast, and I like the people in this group. ;-) However, there are many video tutorials out there that go over the same material, and many more Blender users out there, to answer questions, in forums.

Enough people came out that I think another Blender-focused meetup may be worth pursuing. What I think might be more helpful to our group, is to create an extremely simple game, using a handful of Blender assets. The game would run outside of Blender, and then the pipeline/workflow for completing that finished product could be dissected. I'd be willing to help out with something like that if anyone is interested.

A bit too fast for someone new to Blender.

They say there is room for 32? I think? About a dozen tables of various sizes.

How practical is the available space for all the equipment we need out?

Hello All! Things to consider for Saturday:

1.) Please bring your own laptop and power brick. I will bring a few power strips in case outlets are spare.

    2.) A 3-button mouse

3.) Version 2.6 will be distributed on a thumb drive, along with some texture files. If you would prefer you can download this (or previous versions) from the blender site:

    http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/

    Alright, cool!
