UPDATE - We are changing the Meetup location to the LaunchHouse in Shaker Heights. I will be ordering pizza & pop at 8:00 PM (optional $5 cash buy-in if interested) and then socializing / preparing for the Ludum Dare theme announcement at 10:00 PM. I am planning on being at LaunchHouse until midnight, possibly later.
UPDATE 2 - Just wanted to make sure that everyone knows this meetup is only for Friday night. The Ludum Dare game jam runs all weekend but this meetup is just to socialize and get a few hours of work done. After Friday night, you will need to work from home or another location. Also, we will not be facilitating creating teams or projects. If you are interested in forming a team, mention it in the attached comments.
On April 20th at 10 PM EST, the 23rd Ludum Dare game jam event will be kicking off and I am planning on participating. If you are unable to make this meetup and are still interested in Ludum Dare, mention it in the Comments section below and hopefully we can setup an IRC chat channel for the weekend.
Ludum Dare is a regular accelerated game development Event. Participants develop games from scratch in a weekend, based on a theme suggested by the community. The event attracts developers from all sides of the industry. Students, hobbyists, industry professionals from many well respected game studios, as well as many independent game developers.
This event is open to everyone. Participants can choose to take part in the 48 hour solo "Compo" event or form a team and tackle the 72 hour "Jam" event. I recommend that people interested in forming teams do so in advance using the Comments section of this meetup.

Ludum Dare 23 – 10 Year Anniversary – Weeks away!

Our 23rd main event is coming up in just a few weeks. It also marks the 10th anniversary of our very first event! You can check out the theme list of all the events run in the past 10 years over here, as well as some of the results (Our archival of the early days could have been better though).
Last time, Ludum Dare 22, we had an incredible 891 games submitted. This time we’re looking to break the record again, and what better way to celebrate the 10th Anniversary than to make over 1000 games!
So with that, we’d like you to help us spread the word! Tell your friends, tell your classmates, tell your co-workers, tell everyone! We want this next event to be big huge!
Veterans of Ludum Dare’s past, I want to send a special invitation out to you too. Especially if you haven’t competed in years, we’d love to see you back for this one. Ten year anniversaries only come so often ‘eh.
Thanks everyone! We hope to see you taking part in Ludum Dare 23!
