Heights Area Games at Beachwood Library

Hello East-siders (...and those from all other sides, too)! After a long hiatus (...it's been since September already?), I'd like to try to get this Sunday meetup going again!

It's a bit last minute at this point...but what else are you going to do on Sunday? Come on out to the Beachwood/Shaker Heights area for an afternoon of board games!

The venue will again be the Beachwood branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library--this time in in Meeting Room B (the smaller room). The Library opens at 1pm, and closes promptly at 5pm. You may bring food and drink; there are two vending machines for snacks and drinks.

If anyone has any requests to play any specific games, please post in the comments--I'll try to find some teaching materials and post them beforehand so we can maximize game time!

FYI...games played included Kingdom Builder, Die Speicherstadt, Star Trek Catan, Guildhall, 7 Wonders, Konexi, LOTR: The Confrontation, Can't Stop, and BattleLore! Not bad for four hours!

Thanks everyone for coming out! It was a great time in the big room, and yes, hopefully it will be a regularly scheduled thing! Watch this space...

Looks like y'all had fun! And you seemed to have had quite the turnout as well. Yay!

    I'm brining Star Trek Catan.

I will have three new titles with me: Ginkgolis, Guildhall, and Libertalia, if there is any interest. All play in about an hour or so.

    • Michael

You know I will have it with me. I'm addicted to Ginkgololis.

A down side with Cuyahoga library on Sundays is that they are only open 4 hours.

    • Alex R.

If only my life was free enough that I had more than 4 hours anyway :)

Christian is thinking of having this event on every 2nd Sunday - but it's not set yet (except for March 10). I'm posting this idea/ possiblity to also cross-post ... GENERATING EXCITEMENT!?!?

I hear ya on the " constantly shifting schedule" bit ;) Please do get those other events up on the schedule as soon as possible! That would be most helpful. SInce I'm not so sure about my schedule for the Sunday Scramble in Solon, I would like to not overrun your event or Bob and Ron's Lakewood CON... which seems to land "all over the plce" (just like mine *t*).

Also, if we ever need another place to meet... Great Lakes Game Emporium just opened last week. They are right off 615 (Center Street) in Mentor. In fact, they are holding a Mayfair Games demo day on Sunday, February 10 from 1-4pm. I spoke with one of the co-owners and he said that Saturday is a big Magic: The Gathering day, but Sundays they are targeting for boardgames in general. I would be interested in moving this little shindig there to support a FLGS. But I am up to the thoughts of the masses.

Now I'm a bit torn to where I should go this Sunday. I guess that is a good problem, right? Just a few months ago, there was really no Sunday Boardgame options for those of us on the Eastside.

Orlando, this event and the one posted on EGwF are the same event. Christian was kind enough to post it over there as well. We've a few "cross-over" / "shared" (ishly) events like that. We're friends and gamers, and we like to make sure that everybody knows what going on. :) Come on out and join the fun! :D

Anybody have Agricola? My wife is hoping to get an oldie/goodie in, and that is one of her favorites. My oldest daughter wants to play Settlers of Catan, too.

    February 5, 2013

    • Michael

I'd be happy to play Agricola or settlers.

      February 5, 2013

    • Alex R.

I also have both if needed.

      February 5, 2013

  • Orlando C.

I'll most likely be there along with my wife.

    February 5, 2013

  • Michael

    Maybe...

    February 5, 2013

  • Alex R.

Hope to be there! I have a ton of games so I'm happy to accommodate any requests...even if I don't know how to play it yet :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
