The 2014 BOGA Weekend Retreat!

  • Mar 28, 2014 · 2:00 PM
  • Camp Carl

NE Ohio's greatest gaming event of the year!  Three days of fun and games at Camp Carl in Ravenna, OH.

This is no ordinary Meetup as it spans three days and two nights.  Unlike most of our Meetups, this one has a cost associated with it.  Overnight accommodations and all of the meals are provided by the camp.

BEFORE you RSVP you need to sign up with Grant Alberts or one of the other Room Leaders.  This can be done in person at a Meetup, by emailing Grant (go to his profile and click "Send email"), or by contacting Grant through the BOGA Retreat Facebook Page:

Most of the accommodations are full; there are only a handful of spots in Cabin #3 still available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Cabin #3 is adult co-ed and will end up containing 10 to 15 people.  Approximate cost to stay in Cabin #3 will be $64 for lodging and meals for the whole weekend.  Actual cost will depend on the final number of people in the cabin.

If you do not wish to stay in a cabin we have day passes as well.  Day passes include all of the meals served that day but do not include overnight lodging.  The cost for day passes will be $15 per person for Friday, $30 for Saturday, and $15 for Sunday.

All sign-ups and payments must be made by March 21.  There will be no sign-ups or Day Passes sold after March 15, including at the door.  There are NO passes sold at the door.  You MUST be signed up and paid in advance.

So, what is there to do at the retreat??

Play games in the spacious gaming hall!  It's open non-stop from 2:00pm Friday until 3:00pm Sunday!

Outdoor Adventure Games!  The last couple years we've played zombie games filled with puzzle solving, scavenger hunts, and Nerf weapons!  Even more outdoor fun is being planned for this year!

Eat!  All your meals are provided and there's a drink station (juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate) available the entire time!

Play table tennis, foosball, air hockey, carpet ball and billiards!

Play basketball and volleyball!

Enjoy the beautiful grounds! (There are woods to hike in as well!)

Also, horses!

Was an absolute blast. Had a wonderful time seeing old, familiar, and new faces. A huge thanks to Grant and all of the organizers who put in their personal time and resources into making this happen. I'm already looking forward to next year!

Attention: Road Closed. If your route to the retreat takes you from Rt.5 to Rock Spring Road, the bridge on Rock Spring is closed for repairs. Try to find an alternate route.

Is the pricing for Thursday an additional cost or is it lumped into the default price?

Also, does anyone know what the ARC basement is like?

    March 7, 2014

    • Grant A.

Hey Bob! Thursday is an additional cost.

The ARC Basement is where I have stayed every year. It has a large common room with lots of couches, tables, and chairs, and a second smaller room with bunk beds. It has only a half bath (no shower), but everyone will be able to move into their respective rooms on Friday which do have showers.

We've just added the option to start the Retreat a day early, on 3/27/14! I'll be updating the event description to reflect this shortly...
